Pitchers and Catchers report for Spring Training in just 14 short days!!

LONG LIVE BASEBALL!!!!

GO TIGERS!!!

So who's your team and how do you think they'll do??

Be honest now.

I know, I know. Every season starts with every team having a chance at the World Series....but let's be realistic.

If your team has pitching issues...admit it...lol

I've been a Yankee fan since 1964. Worst case scenario this year they win 90 games and are in the playoff mix all year.

Best case scenario is the pitching staff really falls into place, i.e. Phil Hughes nails down the fifth spot in the rotation and Joba goes back to the bullpen where he belongs. Then they can be scary good.

I like the Rays. They have really come a long ways, and they have great chemistry.

Nobody can say they just got lucky last season. The American League East is one of the toughest divisions in baseball. It's not easy to beat out the Yankees and Red Sox for the series.

Not to mention going from being the worst team in baseball to one of the best.

Having gone through that same thing with the '06 Tigers I can totally relate.

Wasn't that just the most incredible feeling?? Seeing a team that was absolutely awful for a long time finally get things turned around was a lot of fun.

The only bad thing about the Rays run was that the fans didn't exactly come out to the park in droves.

I do think the Rays are going to be right in the middle of things again this year. hey have a very young team and now they have the experience of having been there before.

I am not much of a basketball fan, so between the Super Bowl and the opening of Spring Training there is a bit of a dead spot for me.

Fortunately, I am also a hockey fan so I have the Red Wings to fill in the gap a bit.

Yeah, the only games that sold out were the Yankees/Red Sox games. I went to a few.

They have a much bigger fan base now though. A lot of bandwagon fans, but it's better than nothing.ohwell

True. Better than nothing. Let's see if those bandwagon fans translate into butts in the seats in the middle of the season.

That's one thing about Detroit. It may be a city on the brink of complete collapse. There may be serious economic issues to deal with. There may be a lot of job losses.

But the sports fans are always there for their teams.

Even when the Tigers were awful, they would still draw 2 million fans.

With as awful as the Lions are, they ( up until this season ) still sold out every home game.

I think the Tigers are going to be in good shape this season.

They have picked up a couple of good relief pitchers.

They still have a pretty good lineup and their defense should be MUCH improved by moving Brandon Inge back to third base where he belongs. I have some reservations about Carlos Guillen being an everyday left fielder, but I will reserve judgment until I actually see it.

Cabrera got off to a very slow start last season, but I think it's mainly because he was putting a lot of pressure on himself to justify the huge contract he got. he showed what a beast he really is from the All Star break until the end of the season.

If Sheffield can't get it going this season, they still have Marcus Thames who, I think, would make for a serviceable DH.

The only real question mark for the Tigers, as I see it, is going to be their starting pitching.

Verlander needs to get back into form and be the dominating guy he was 2 years ago.

It remains to be seen if Bonderman can come back from the shoulder problem.

Dontrelle Willis is a big question mark. I really hope he can get back to what he was with the Marlins.

Armando Gallaraga just needs to avoid the ' sophomore slump ' and he'll be just as good as he was last season.

The other two spots in the rotation are up for grabs, I think. I DO know they are going to take a good long look at Rick Porcello as a possibility for the 5th starter spot.

I think Kenny Rogers is done so there will be one open starter spot in the rotation. I am just crossing my fingers and HOPING that they don't hand it to Nate Robertson.

I'm a Yankees fan and I'm ready for baseball now. I still have my doubts about the Rays even though the AL East is no longer a two party system.

Better start hoping that C.C.'s collapses over the last couple of post seasons were just aberrations.

Also better start crossing your fingers that the Brewers didn't wear his arm out or your Yankees are gonna be in for a bit of trouble.

The Yankees are overrated. If they can't beat the Rays to play in the series.....?????....well......nuff said.

I am taking nothing away from the Yanks this year.

They have a very solid lineup and they spent a boatload of money on pitching.

It'll be interesting to see how C.C. handles the pressure of playing in New York and to see if Burnett can stay healthy.

Yankees only lost one series against the Ray last year and that was in May when half the team was injured and two rookie pitchers in the rotation that cant make it past 3rd inning. The Yankees had a short off season and they simply weren't ready for 2008. They basically spent the year reconstructing in their own way.

But their way of rebuilding is to go out and spend a whole boatload of money without taking into account what kind of effect all those huge egos are going to have in the locker room.

If they spend alot of money, they get criticized for that.

If don't spend that money, they'll be criticized for that and Cashman will be fired for being a lame GM. He's already in enough trouble for not getting Santana.

What can you expect the Yankees to do, when everyone knows they have the biggest budget?

I have the utmost respect for the early Yankees players. Ruth, Mantle, Gehrig, Maris, etc...

It's these bling-bling cocky players that made me lose it.

It's just not the same franchise/legacy anymore......
