Don't know if this still applies, because although I've been back to that area, I've not had any reason to re-investigate this, but:
Twenty years ago, I drove over to the lower part of Michigan with my then-roomate to attend a wedding. When we got there, I got a bit hungry, but didn't want to spoil my dinner at the wedding, so I went to a convenience store to buy a box of potato chips (a large box with two separate bags of potato chips contained within). Very common here in Wisconsin at the time, but you don't see them very much anymore these days. Never really paid any attention before if anybody else in surrounding states had them, because they were such a common commodity. I figured it would not only satiate my immediate hunger, but would carry me through for the rest of the weekend when I got the munchies. So, I go in and, looking but not finding, asked if they had any boxes of chips. They looked at me like I had three heads. They had never heard of anything so ridiculous as a "box of chips". And this was only one state over! |

Hot Mammas,
...the sausages you pigs, oh wait, I am a pig too.... I should punish myself for even answering but they are so damn tasty. I can find them in Oregon but here in Cali? I even lived in Redding for five years and they didn't have them anywhere up there either! |

In Oregon, it's mandatory that a gas attendant fill your tank. In California (where I live), they don't give a crap. Same thing here- NY has to fill their own gas (ew) and Jersey you're not allowed to touch the pump |

I've travelled all over the country & have lived in 5 different states...I get a kick out of all the regional colloquialisms...
In Minnesota, a wedgie is called a "snuggie"... In Missouri, ya'll is "youns"... There's plenty more...but you get the gist... |

In the southern states you can find grits aplenty, go north of the mason/dixon line you ain't gonna find the first grit nowhere! In the deep south if you order iced tea, even in a Wendy's it comes loaded with sugar. Also all restaurants always have sugared tea. If you ask for iced tea with no sugar they get annoyed. And of course grits with everything. And banana pudding and fried catfish in every restaurant. We call it sweet tea round here hun! Yummy!!! Yep. And every third person I met in Alabama was diabetic. One out of three. |

I miss the "Beverage Castles"! We had the "boxed chips" in Florida many moons ago...but I think they were more of a generic brand... |
