Just found out I may not have a job tommorow morning, took a vacation day to go to my aunts funeral and found out from a co worker that they laid off everyone who started in 08,I did. anyone else in this scary boat? About 75,000 other people just found out they were laid off today too. |
I was in that boat back in Tennessee. But I moved to Texas and found work, best thing I ever did to be honest.

Yes, times are tough for many, but keeping it all in perspective is also important. So, did anyone notice windshields breaking this winter? |

I work in the film business, and we've been in a major-league rollercoaster situation as far as work for the better part of a decade-and-a-half-
First it was Bill Clinton's signing of NAFTA, which allowed for corporate Hollywood to go to points unknown to make movies that are mostly for audiences here. Then the writers decided to go on strike last year, which essentially shut down the industry as a whole for the better part of three months. And NOW we've got an impending actors strike that may or may not happen depending on if the actors can get their crap together. In the midst of all this stuff, the work situation has deteriorated significantly- fewer and fewer projects are being made, which means that fewer and fewer people are working. |

Iowa, At least in my area, isn't really bad. a few companys laid off but 95% of the lay offs have been recalled.
Only one place has shut down but they started that process last year. I do wish all of you the best of luck though. |
