I haven't noticed it too, too much here...but on other sites, I've seen a lot of the pack behaviour (Le Clique', mob mentality, etc...) when a person dares to be "different"... They may appear to be Wolves, but in reality are merely Sheeple...wonder why that is?

maybe it's as simple as people recognizing an idiot and attacking him en masse, rather than just wanting to fit in.

I would have to agree Pat's. I was on another site it was horrible with the cliques. I will not be part of a clique since I insist on thinking for myself. I don't need help making up my mind. I haven't played follow the leader since primary school.

I haven't seen cliques on Mingle2 I have seen friends posting together. I think this site isn't a breeding ground for it. The reason why I think that is two reasons. One there isn't bashing and trashing allowed period if and when it happens the Mod's are there quickly and it stops. The second reason is I found from the first day of joining that everyone was extremely friendly.
Just IMO...

One thing I have noticed...on this site as well as others...people tend to be more suspicious of noobs when they don't have a pic...I learned that first-hand...I wonder what makes blind people suspicious...??? Just a thought...

It's because there have been some fake profiles recently.

So Winx...all should have to pay for a few fakes? That's the mob mentality that I'm talking about...I was accused of being a fake, too...was even asked by a well-known member here... ...kinda' funny since I had already met in person a few Minglers even before I joined... The whole point I'm trying to make is: A "mob" could make it very uncomfortable for a noob...& they may miss out on getting to know a really good person...

The newbie no pic might have introduced themselves on an evening when there were a bunch of fake profiles. It sends the radar up.

That's a shame that "no pic" will put up the radar...again I ask the question: Wonder what makes blind people suspicious...

No a picture won't put my radar up.

Posting styles will, a person that is always seeking attention, a person that posts with a chip on their shoulder, a person that has an apparent agenda, a person that states on their profile they have a job yet can be on the site all day long and most of the nite day after day.

These are just a few things that will put my radar up picture or no picture won't do it for me.

Might as well ask why people are "jaded" to love/relationships. Peoples reactions are based on their history/experiences. i.e. the married person that won't put up a picture, somehow forgot to mark Married on the profile.

Can't judge anyone to harshly for being "careful".

As far as having a "pack"/"mob" mentality, really don't run with anyone here. Think most of you have seen my post, while i try to be "somewhat" gentle.. i'm usually just blunt. Just as quick to support someone as rip a stupid person apart.

Not here to be shaped by anyone.. if you don't like my opinion so be it. btw - only the soft can be shaped.

What makes YOU different in the pack?

There are cliques here, too, but it used to be a LOT worse.

Now it's just a couple of groups, and they like to post threads in which six or seven of them discuss some inane thing back and forth for 42 pages, and ignore any "outsiders" who try to join in.

And that's OK with me -- it's not like I NEED to talk to those people, anyway.

I prefer to try to be "inclusive" as opposed to "exclusionary." If the point of a site like this is to get to know new people, it makes no sense to me to get set up here and ignore everyone except the same six or seven people for all eternity.

You also have some pretty deep stuff to share, so ya .. it's like when EF Hutton talks .. people listen.

You can post in my threads any damn time you want and I would never intentionally ignore you. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeet who wants the same people all the time .. whoa yawn yawn yawn yawn

I'm not suspicious. I hate living like that. BUT .. I don't talk to people with bags over their heads at a bar either .. just sayin.

I just don't like talkin to 'headless' people.

I can dig what you're saying, Fade...when I first joined here, I intentionally refrained from posting pix...it's amazing how differently people will treat you when they think they can "see" you...
