I've been dabbling with these sites, on and off, since 1998. This is the only one that has held my interest for more than a few months.

When I first signed up, I was hoping to -- yes, this so predictable! -- "meet someone." After all, I had met 9 people on other sites (all disasters, but I wasn't thinking about that at the time), so why not here?

Why not here? Because there aren't any locals who really participate -- I'm not wasting my time with any more LDRs -- and there isn't anyone who fits the parameters of what I'm looking for.

But I've run across a lot of great people here -- people who are supportive and understanding and funny and caring and open and, ultimately, the very model of what a "friend" should be.

So, OK, there's no "match" here. I can talk to my friends, plus I may end up selling a few books!

Sure, I'd love to -- there it is again -- "meet somebody." But that's not going to happen, and I'm OK with that.

I can be completly honest and say I am here to try to find someone I can connect with and fall in love with. If i make a lot of friends alng the way then it is even better but Truthfully I really wanna find the woman I will spend my days growing old with.
