I just watched The Invasion - yet another remake of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers - and it wasn't bad! I had to watch the 70's version again to compare, and I really can't say which I prefered.

Though the new one would've been better had the studio not hired a new director and writers (the Wachowski brothers, incidentally) to "spice it up" and add a car chase, etc. They should've left it to the original director's vision.

I thought Rob Zombie's Halloween was pretty good. It filled in a lot of gaps from the original one. It actually introduced you to Michael Myers before he was "MICHAEL MYERS". That said, it was your typical horror movie for the most part. Teenage chicks screaming and running around half-naked being chased by some psychopath. I LOVE his House of 1,000 Corpses franchise and I hope he continues it somehow, like a prequel maybe.

What would truly be scary is a good Ed Gein movie. Can't beat true stories, adds so much to the creep factor.

I'm tired of the whole comic book to movie thing. Other than Iron Man and 300 most of them don't impress me much. Most of them suck.

I wish directors would go back to the old school special effects too. REAL material looks REAL. CGI is fake, and looks fake. Why oh why don't they get that? Money over artistry. Shameful.

Really good point,
you see the mist?
it wasn't just the ending that made it suck balls, it was the fact that every damn monster in that movie looked like it jumped out of a video game, they need to use prostetics more,

Like the movie Slither, they drained the national supply of that ****.

hey remakes r groovey.

i think they should remake psycho and make janice do another shower scene...what do u think. she did a very wet water scene....but we never really knew if she was showering or just fooling around..
and we never really saw norman bates stab her. it could have been mother. i never really knew.

then, i think boris karloff movies are hot. as r the old dracula movies...where he bites um, then flies off after he waves a cape over himself like phantom of the opera. he kinda flies in place.....
they should redo that with graphics.
the best ones however, r with vincent price.

actually i think horror movies r a terrible waste of these character actors talent. but they entertain us. doncha think?
  pitchfork

I hate how these new remakes make the killers human. I don't care about Micheal Myer's crappy childhood, i don't care that Jason was made fun of and left to drown. What i do care about is how they kill the stupid teenagers who dare cross their path.

How was the ending bad? Because it was innovative? That was one of the best endings to a movie I have seen in a long time.

I agree that the CG was bad, though. They had a low production cost so it was to be expected.

I can kind of see your point there. Some brats only want to watch their movies in the theater, so they will never see the original on DVD.

There are a handful of exceptions where I actually liked the remake better than the original. It very rarely happens though.

The reason for the gadzilliions of remakes is simple-

The studios already own the rights to films in question, so all they need to do is hire some chimp to type out a hackneyed (they call it "updated") script and hire some unknown twenty-something myspace sluts and metrosexuals to star in the waste of film. In the end, it's no different from "reality TV"... it costs them almost nothing to make, and no one has to expel any real thought as to how to get the thing done.

The worst part is that people are dumb enough to watch those remakes, as if they're gonna learn something that they didn't get by watching the original (and MUCH better-produced) movie.

I swear every thread I come by that I want to post in, there you are saying the exact same thing I want to say grumble
Gotta be quicker.... smile2

i enjoyed zack snyder's remake of dawn of the dead but it was no where near as good as romero's. i didnt like the fast zombie. zombie's arent fast. they just arent.

usually any horror that comes out now is a remake of some japanese horror movie, and the japanese version is so much better lol.

i have yet to see a horror remake that has been excellent

remakes in general....The House on Haunted Hill was an old Vincent Price...and the guy in the remake looked just like him, might have even had a similar name, can't recall.....and The Fast And the Furious was a remake
