Topic: You know your computer is old | |

You know your computer is old when you have to wait 30 minutes to get it started up and wait 30 minutes for it to shut down no that means it is infected with something Kind of hard to believe since I never hooked it up to the internet unless it gets a virus from a software program you buy at a store? Not enough RAM? |

You're computer is old, if:
-Making noises, even when it's off (check for bugs and mice!) -You still have a large floppy drive -Your Windows starts with the sound "Tada!" -You have a ball rolling in your mouse and doesn't have a central wheel button -Your monitor has a 14 inc screen but it weighs about 40lbs. -You only have a CD-ROM installed, capable only to play CD-s. -You tried to buy more memory for it, but the guy in Staple's said, you should rather check on the flee-market for the one compatible. -When you turn on your PC, your "operating system" consist green or white text on a black background. - You have a game called "Doom II" on 6 floppy disks and it is "choking" your PC's processing power with Its advanced graphics. |

My PC's fan or motor (not sure) is so loud that I have to put the volume so high on my monitor to hear the music and actions of a old game No joke here It's just probably full of dust and working extra hard. Or the bearing is gone bad, you could easily get a new fan from it from a store or online. |

If that works, I will get back to you to thank you again. It is time to put a stop the loud noise with a swifter picker upper |

I'm running on my TRS-80, connected at 300 baud with a telephone coupler holding my Ma Bell telephone. 16KB of RAM and a Z80 processor running at a whopping 1.77mhz. Who could possibly need more than that. Takes me 10 minutes to load my browser from cassette tape. I've been waiting for mutual match to load for 30 minutes now, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I remember "hacking up" an "upgrade" - hooking up a VCR instead of a cassette player to load from and record to. I was happy for a whole few months after that one. |
