One don't drag it out, tell them kindly and honestly why and that it is over. If at all possible let them leave with their dignity.

The worst thing a person can do is stay in a relationship they know is over. I would rather someone just cut it off and tell me why.

I'd just say it in as nice a way as possible. But if we hadn't been dating exclusively and only had a couple of dates, I might just avoid their calls until they got the point.

I completely agree with this statement. If someone did that to me, things would be so much easier. I would be like forget this!! I guess your not what your cracked up to be. Then I wouldn't know the better, and still have my self esteem.

I had to go through that with my second divorce to the same person. I thought she deserved an answer that was good for both of us. We parted as friends at the court house. It was so much better than the first divorce where I was served the divorce papers at work in front of all my friends by the police. And instead of having my clothes delivered to me in three trash bags I actually got the house. It was so clean and I got to keep the kitchen sink. I didn't even have to worry about washing dishes any because there wasn't any. Yup, It was a clean break. It took me a while to get used to sleeping in the floor but eventually I got a bed and some furniture and food and it was so cool because I even got to keep my own tool box that time. I really didn't think the house was that big until she took everything out of it.
