I've been on both sides of that conversation (haven't most of us?) and I can only tell you what I would like to hear: absolute honesty. Don't rush into it and blurt it out and, of course, having the conversation in privacy and when there's time to talk is a must. I personally try to avoid the "we need to talk" as a starter to the conversation...that puts just about everyone on the defensive. Just be honest about your feelings, what SPECIFICALLY isn't working in the relationship, and that you want to move on. Be prepared for the other person to try and convince you to stay and know in your mind whether you're willing to consider that IN ADVANCE.
Best of luck...it's not an easy conversation, to be sure, but honesty's always the best policy. M |

How do you tell someone you dont think you want to be with them anymore? there was this guy i was with about 6yrs ago for 2yrs. and he was so freaken lazy. i was working 2 jobs just to make ends meet and only time he would work was at the state fair. once a year. and i finally had enough and i told him i didnt want to be together anymore.. i admit he would help with the household stuff but that was it... he married now and aparently hes working. not only was i working 2 jobs i also had a job on the internet, plus i had to find time to get my son to school. so yea i was stressing. and he even noticed that.. in order to get him off his butt i had him help me with one of my jobs for i was a caregiver for this elderly man. so he would take him on his errons while i was cleaning his house. |

In the long run honesty is the best. If you don't see a future with the person then let them know. Life is to short to be in a dead end relationship.

"Baby, it's not you, it's me. If we don't end this now, I'm going to go postal."
100% success rate for most. |

dont return their phone calls.... Don't you think everybody should man/woman up and at least tell them once before they ignore them??? |

I almost would rather them completely drop off the face off the earth than tell me some BS reason why we should split. If I got an honest answer, that would be the best, but that rarely happens.

Hop on the bus, Gus. Make a new plan, Stan.

I'm the opposite...and I don't care if it's BS...just don't leave me hanging, wondering, and making an a$$ of myself by calling. To each our own, right? |
