Warning: contains graphic footage of war injuries Link to this video Video showing injuries consistent with the use of white phosphorus shells has been filmed inside hospitals treating Palestinian wounded in Gaza City.
Contact with the shell remnants causes severe burns, sometimes burning the skin to the bone, consistent with descriptions by Ahmed Almi, an Egyptian doctor at the al-Nasser hospital in Khan Younis. Almi said the entire body of one victim was burned within an hour. It was the first time he had seen the effects of what he called a "chemical weapon". http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jan/16/phosphorus-bombs-video-israel-gaza |

So, unless there is more evidence, then you still have the International Red Cross statement that "they have found NO EVIDENCE of the illegal use of WP on civilians" no matter how many burn victim pictures you post. |

RAMALLAH, Occupied West Bank: "There is no doubt that Israel is using phosphorous bombs over Gaza. Israel is flagrantly violating the Fourth Geneva Convention," says Raji Sourani, head of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights in Gaza. "This is not the first time we have documented Israel using this kind of prohibited weapon against Gaza's civilian population," Sourani told IPS by phone from Gaza. Human Rights Watch (HRW) confirmed Sourani's assessment in a statement it released on Friday. Its researchers said they had seen "multiple air-bursts of artillery-fired white phosphorous over Gaza city." Israel was also accused of using phosphorous against civilian targets in Lebanon during the 2006 war. It initially denied the charge, but finally confirmed it following investigation by the same team of Italian journalists, and in the face of overwhelming evidence. "While the international community might be horrified by the use of phosphorous, this is overlooking the issue that hundreds of half-ton bombs are being dropped on Gaza on civilian targets on a daily basis," Sourani told IPS. Gaza's death toll has risen to over 900, while nearly 4,000 Palestinians have been wounded. The UN reports that half of the deaths are civilian, and half of the civilian casualties are women and children. Two-thirds of Gaza's 1.5 million people are living without electricity, and some 750,000 without water, according to UN estimates. - With The Daily Star http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?edition_id=10&categ_id=2&article_id=98974 |

PHOSPHORUS CHARGES REBUKED Accusations that Israel employs sinister and "illegal" weapons are not new. Now, the politicized non-governmental organization Human Rights Watch has condemned Israel for allegedly using white phosphorus weapons unlawfully in the conflict with Hamas. NGOs such as HRW enjoy the "halo effect", whereby, because of their humanitarian focus, they are insulated from scrutiny and are regarded as above reproach by the media. In this case, media including The Guardian, Times of London, Christian Science Monitor and CNN have repeated HRW's claims. However, this charge has been disputed by the International Red Cross, which stated that it had no evidence to suggest that white phosphorus is being used improperly or illegally by Israel. As the AP reports: "In some of the strikes in Gaza it's pretty clear that phosphorus was used," [Peter] Herby told The Associated Press. "But it's not very unusual to use phosphorus to create smoke or illuminate a target. We have no evidence to suggest it's being used in any other way." ... Herby said that using phosphorus to illuminate a target or create smoke is legitimate under international law, and that there was no evidence the Jewish state was intentionally using phosphorus in a questionable way, such as burning down buildings or consciously putting civilians at risk. White phosphorus has, however, been used as a weapon against civilians during this conflict... by Hamas. On Tuesday a mortar shell fired from Gaza into Israel contained white phosphorus. As the regional council's security chief said: "the potential danger of using such a rocket is enormous. It is far more dangerous than other Qassam rockets and mortal shells. This is an escalation in the type of explosives the Palestinians use on civilians." We challenge Human Rights Watch to condemn this attack in the same way it has (falsely) condemned Israel. Send your comments to HRW - hrwnyc@hrw.org." http://www.honestreporting.com/articles/45884734/critiques/new/Media_War_Crimes.asp |

Not only are you a minority, but your precious Israel are wrong. Definitely not God's people! Maybe the other guys but not Gods! Open your eyes to reality man and quit with your one-sided prejudice propaganda campaign! |

I do more in one day than you do all week. You are the one who sits here day and night scanning the current events for anything bad said about Israel. Just so you can add your one-sided uninformed opinion in their defense. If you are so dedicated to their cause why are you here in America, Get off your couch and go to Israel. Put your dedication and love for the terrorists Israeli gov to use! Go join their Army. Unless your scared! |

madisonman and fanta46- I'm sincerely curious to understand what makes the sources/claims you post here more reliable or credible (and to be believed)as opposed to those views that are contrary or question your obvious agenda? It's truly sad for those who don't know they suffer from the acute malady "michaelmooreism". I was just recently secretly informed of this disease by the second cousin of a friend that claimed to be a top secret agent in an equally secret organization known as the "Chartreuse Cross". I think one of them may have been related to the reporter who claimed there was cannibalism taking place in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. Intial symptoms include atrophy in the part of the brain that controls objectivity coupled with selective research of cited materials. Symptoms affecting personality are frequently expressed in elitist terms of "I'm right and anyone who disagrees with me is wrong" (unenlightened, "sheep", or a propagandist). The state run newspaper in Russia is called "Pravda" (the Russian word for "Truth"). It appears you guys would link to their site and unquestionably believe their material as well... if it was anti-Israel.
Don't get me wrong here. It doesn't matter to me if you might be anti-semetic, anti-Israel, neo-Nazi skinheads (that's the impression you guys are giving me) or not. I suppose I could post links to other threads here, do a little selective editing of your posts supporting that impression too. You guys do seem to have A LOT to say on this Gaza/Israel topic and VERY little to say positive about Israel... hmmmm. Fortunately for you guys michaelmooreism isn't spread through casual contact. |

This posts sounds like it came from someone without a clue! refute it !!...what part don't you understand... Tens o thousands of Americans died in Korea. Who won? No one. Tens of thousands of Americans died in Veitnam. Who won? No One! Almost 5 thousand died in Iraq. Although it has still not been fully played out, who won? A child breaks things. An Army during war destroys property and lives. The dead are mutilated and the living are scarred. The dead are silent and those who fought the war, the living, rarely rejoice about their participation! My previous statment stands on its own. |

LMAO If that's the impression you get about me then you are not very profound. My opinion is not based on a narrow view sustained from a lifelong bombardment of the propaganda spooned to us from the media, religious leaders, or our Israeli leaning government. Nor is it opinionated by hatred. No my friend, rather from years of studying the ME. A voyage started trying to find the real source of the problems concerning the many conflicts and the hatred directed at America from there. Most of my posts, if you have bothered to read are backed by historical facts. Supported on occasion by the coincidences to the history as it happens now. What you see at times is a frustrated response to the futile effort of getting some to open their eyes to these facts. To overcome the efforts of a lifetime of propaganda and open their eyes to the root cause. To study history, because as we all have heard a million times, "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it." |

Here's what I don't get.
How is it perfectly acceptable for Hamas to send rockets into Israel, but when Israel fights back, they get condemned for " attacking innocent civilians?? Has everyone forgotten, or decided to ignore that those " innocent civilians " actually VOTED Hamas into their government?? To actually vote for a terrorist group to be in your government would, to me, be cause to no longer have those civilians be considered innocent. What, Did they think that Hamas would stop doing these kinds of things once they were voted into positions of power?? |

this is a generic statement related to subjects such as this thread title ------------------------------------------------------- how can one say they support the troops and then complain about the weapons they use Perhaps its not so much the weapons used as to who they are used on! Innocent women and children? This is not a conventional war. After 22 days Israel has still not stopped the rockets. 1100 deaths and still the "mighty?" Israeli Army has not stopped the rockets which are relatively useless. This whole invasion is a futile effort. You can not defeat an oppressed and militant group like Hamas with a conventional Army. I dont care how many bombs you drop or what type. Unless you kill every man, woman, and child all you will do is add to their ranks. Of course without outside intervention, and Israel's violent history, extermination of the Palestinian people is not beyond imagination. |
