Topic: How would you feel? | |
---|---|
I personally feel it should be kept out of the work place. The work place is open to all of employees and religion is a protected right to all of them. Ah now you see, you had a point I didn't immediately see. Well now I was thinking more in line with a priest's blessing which from what I remember is pretty simple, but then thinking what if my boss wanted to have some animal sacrificial ritual at work.. hmmm, that would freak me out a bit, so maybe your right. Should be kept out. How about when you weren't there? After all if he did it in the absence of the employees and they didn't know it was blessed ..... hmmm thinking.. |

It would not bother me what-so-ever. I am strong enough in my faith to not let the actions/decisions/opionions of others effect my beliefs...

Agreed, but you need to remember that maybe some of my actions will just as offensive to them. What I do is between my conscience and the creator, and vice-versa, regardless of who is right or wrong.

its all getting the blessing from the same God. doesn't matter the religion, except
maybe for Catholics which is 3 entities in one God: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, though yes I suppose it doesn't belong in the work place unless maybe he really has a fear of death, of dying at work, and want to circumvent that ending, or superstitious too, my mother actually buried a statue of a saint in her yard for luck in selling her house...and it worked! |

It wouldn't bother me unless I was expected to take part in the ceremony. I may or may not have a problem with that.
If I was really bold and I was asked to take part in the ceremony I might offer to smudge the place as a shaman as the priest blesses it and we can ward off the evil spirits side-by-side. I can respect his holy insence if he can respect mine. However, if I were a buiness owner and I wanted to have a placed blessed, or smudged, I'd do it when the building was empty and the employees had all left. There's no reason to have them involved in the ceremony or even know about it actually. In fact, I would be highly questionable about anyone's motivations when they feel it necessary to make sure other people know what they are doing. That usually implies ego more than spirituality. |

Many religions believe in the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It's not just the Catholic religion. |

And some people don't believe that at all.

ok...I was just using that as an example.

As long as it didn't require anything of me, I wouldn't really care.

If your boss had the placed you worked at "blessed" by a priest? If you were not religious or did not follow the same religion as your boss? Would it upset you? It depends on the situation. Is my boss the owner? If so, he is fully within his rights to do it. If he isn't, but has the owners blessing, I see no problem. If by "place I worked" you mean literally the desk I work at, yes I would be upset, because I would view that both as an invasion of personal space, and forcing his religious beliefs on me. . . |

I worked for a publisher owned by the Moonies...whatever! The money was good and when Rev. Moon came to visit it was at least interesting to watch the followers and how they behaved... |
