I'll take a lifted F-150 Lightning.

Apples n oranges. Either or. Don't matter. To each his own. Everyone has different preferences.
Agreed.

Classic trucks (at roughly OEM height) for me.

<<< My 1970 Chevy C\10 long bed on the left.
And my brother's 1971 Dodge D200 Custom on the right.

i almost bought a 1973 chevy truck.. it was used for offroading by the last guy... i wanted to turn it into a project and really fix it up for street. but i guess it was 4x4 all the time. i din't get it.

i kinda regret it.
Yeah, I had a Jeep that was stuck in 4x4, just needed a little bracket on the transfer case where someone worked on it and didn't replace all the parts.
On the other hand, a lot of 4x4-ers will wear their trucks completely out and what's obviously wrong is just the beginning. You may have made the right decision.

yeah but the body was beautiful. i'm talkin no rust the axles were in great shape and i just hd the urge to drive a giant truck. the urge is gone.. but it would ahve made a sweet project truck to beautify.

Power to weight! I have a Honda DX I raced contemporary Mustangs with and gave them a nice view of my tail lights. I have helped build ricers that have the same fuel consumption habits of any muscle car and go as fast if not faster. Comes down to drivers at that point. Heck, stick a TR6 engine in an MGB and you get a very fast car suddenly. Put a Nissan 2.8 inline six in it with a matching five speed and hold onto your hats folks!

Its all relative to two things, how much HO can you squeeze out of your power plant and how much money have you got not only to build it but to feed it. I have seen a Chevy Citation that does 8.5 to 9.0 in the quarter mile. I have also seen a 1500HP Mazda Rotary that weighed about eighty pounds. Try matching that with any V8 out there. The power to weight is just insane on rotary engines. Stuff that tiny engine into a small car like an RX 2 Mazda or better yet a VW Bug and go to the street races and take all the muscle car owner's money! Even Toyota's 22R is a venerable rice racer engine!

Also if you can't feed it you really can't afford to own it. How fast do you really need to go to get a speeding ticket anyways?

what would your preference be?

i my self am for both of them, i own musscle n ricer. an they do have their advantages n disadvantages. ricers have a lower power band but better fuel milage, n to musscle way more power but piss poor fuel milage.

i recieved a new car the other day a 1997 olds 2 door 4.0L high output v-6 needs body work but ill b driving it soon.

Both.

Anything fast enoughto do something stupid in.

As a project car I always wanted to take a Triumph TR6 and stuff a 351 Windsor with four valve heads under its hood bolted to a Borg Warner 5 speed and use a Corvette's rear drive line in the back. I wanted to go with OBD II because at the time it was what was available but these days I would opt for OBD IV. On top of that I would use a Paxton oil less supercharger but likewise and this is spendy I wanted to go with a slightly lopey cam with mechanical lifters. I would be forced to use stock iron because of the fit of the engine in the compartment but if a 302 can fit so can a 351! Use two 3.5 inch exhaust pipes to take the exhaust down two free breathing mufflers and make sure the full roll cage is included! In a car as light as a TR6 and put a six hundred HP monster FE Class block into it and hang on to your hats folks!
Yes I wanted the all aluminum engine but YIKES that is money. The funny thing is I got a 302 under the hood of a friends TR6 so I know it works. His was a convert to auto tranny though. It had a shift kit but it is not the same. Still, it was scary fast. Enough to piss off a lot of Vett owners!

rotary? i know a guy that knows how to max their power through the roof n not use much fancy stuff. i may go for tryin to stuff that olds motor in my van. this summer i want to chop the roof so that i aint as top heavy . install a full roll cage the windows will b custom ovals on the back.

Just be sure the engine will mate to the tranny first! Not all GMs are made alike. Chopping the roof of the van completely away will not do you any favors. Lowering the roof will. You will actually have a large drag pocket in the rear of the vehicle with a lowered roof you can manage it better. The drag on a sedan is actually about the same at high speeds. You need a dedicated sports car to get better aerodynamics.

Some tricks with modern engines to get more go out of them. Replace the throttle body with a larger one. Replace the EPROM in the engine's computer. If you are really feeling nuts put the piggyback programmable computer on and have settings from street economy to hold onto your dentures ladies and gentlemen! Bolt on a supercharger, NOT a turbocharger and use larger exhaust pipes. ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM!
If you need more gusto and feel froggy to get into the engine replace the camshaft(s) with a spicier one(s). If it is dual over head cams you gotta change both at the same time to get the performance boost. Anything more is a waste of effort.
Also bear in mind the trans needs to be hardened against being hit with that much horse power. What you spend in the engine so you shall spend in the rest of the drive line. If you are really beefing up the HP CV joints and Universal Joints are the biggest weakness and most over looked act of hybridization to a car. I have seen so many people take their babies out after putting new drive trains in and they used stock u joints and wound up tossing drive shafts. Be sure you are not going to kill your van with HP.
Otherwise Groove ON!smokin

Oh, rotary engines are something that Mazda has a patent on but Corvette actually had them as an experimental power plant in the late 60's. Mazda beat them to the patent. They are astonishingly simple and can be ported to become insane. CC for CC they are the most powerful engine available. Look it up on the internet. I think you will be surprised by what you see.
