How soon is too soon to start dating again after a break up?

I dated after i left my ex husband about a week.......way too soon.....

It's not a quantifiable answer. If a person can be honest with themselves, they know.

I have 2 more goals that precede considering someone new, unless our goals are similar or at minimum, encourage success. For now, this means friendships only for me.

it depends on how long the relationship was and how serious. When your emotionally ready go for it.

these days people are dating before they break up

Depends who you are dating and where and what kind of breakup it is. A once in awhile date thing a couple weeks. A serious relationship I think it is just considerate to be discreet for 100 days to let them collect themselves and you collect yourself. Especially if you were having sex you want to know there are not any complications to deal with. Walking wounded is not cool for anyone involved. If it is the death of a spouse I think a year is respectful. Divorce especially with kids I would say a year or maybe even two. They don't need to deal with the emotional upheavel while they are trying to get adjusted. Dateing yourself is a way to find out who you are first.

What really sucks is when you and your ex are "supposed" to be working things out, even though you are seperated...and one week later she is on a date with another dude.
