Is it appropriate to pick up someone at a bar or is it considered the last resort?

Is it appropriate to pick up someone at a bar or is it considered the last resort? I think it's appropriate when your 20 something and that is your commonality. If your 45 and still trolling for chicks at the bar, you MIGHT need a change. Here's your sign!

You do have a point. Speaking only for me, I have kids to take care of, so I can't get to the bar every saturday night to find my fill of great guys who hang out and get drunk weekly. I guess you pick 'em up where you can! Kidding of course.

I've never done it and wouldn't. I think its kind of sleazy. Reeks of predatory behavior and desperation.
