Well, at least here I don't have to see people throw up all over each other, or engage in some sort of spastic seizures and call it "dancing." And my synapses and neurons remain relatively undamaged here, at least until I start reading Mutual Match profiles.

Well that is quite an assumption to be made on your part as another person might consider this not the best way to go about it. However the reality is that people have very little time to go out and meet others. The internet is probably quickly surpassing most conventional methods.

I see nothing wrong with being at a happy hour situation and getting into a sober conversation with others of my ilk. It's not like a "sex pick-up". It's more like a "mixer". Now, there are people and places where it's all about the sex "hook ups", but not all bars nor all people are sleazy for showing up at a bar and meeting people. You are saying my behaviour and conditions is predatory, desperate and sleazy, and it's just not so.

It would depend on how horny and how drunk I was. Additionally, if she were wearing any type of leather garments this would be considered a plus. And jeans so tight that when she walks away it looks like two possums making love in a gunny sack. And I like women who paint those decorative designs on their big toes. I kinda feel like going to a bar right now.

I do enjoy bars yet I dont consume alcohol. I like to visit taverns that have live music and darts or pool. Im a bit of a pool fanatic though Im not great. Men constantly will try to hit on women when they are in that situation. I simply pass up the drunks.

Sleazy and desperate can make for some hot steamy sheet slinging....

I also met my first husband at a club. He used to drink a lot before we met, but stopped drinking during the marriage. At the end? Went right back to it....and more.

Like anything else, we can never generalize. I used to like to dance for fun and exercise, so a couple times a month, I'd go to clubs in my early to mid 30s. That wasn't to meet anyone, but to have fun with my female friends. I'm not a drinker, so one or two drinks was my limit. I chose never to date anyone I met at a bar or club during those years. I'd learned my lesson the first time.

You are right of course. Today just seems like a joking kind of day. I'm sorry you felt the need to defend your position. Myself, I was thinking more along the lines of people who just hang out at at the bar every week getting drunk and picking up random people for one night stands. Obviously there are other scenarios that play out, especially if you live in a more metro area. There is nothing at all wrong with having a drink and unexpectedly meeting some nice fellow.

Makes me sad to wonder what might have happened to cause it. I have my suspicions, based on things they shared. Gee,....its really sad.


But, as my friends and colleagues have often cautioned me....help them, don't date them. Anyone actively continuing to make bad choices in life or in the early stages of working through personal issues probably isn't a wise choice. Myself, included.

Yes, some need liquid courage to have uninhibited sex. Some just think it makes it more fun. I confess I did that when I was younger, but I don't behave that way anymore. I grew out of it and into my own skin.
