Never, unless he or she goes into law enforcement, the military, or another career where a gun is required to perform the job.
I'm one of those anti-gun liberals. |

My friend's son is 7 and he wants to get him a .22
it's not like he'll say "go outside and play with your gun". it'll stay locked up with the other guns and only come out when he takes him to shoot it under supervision |

I was 9 when my dad first taught me to hunt..

squirtguns should be introduced around 6/7

old enough to know right from wrong,
old enough to be able to use it responsibly old enough to know its not a toy old enough that aiming it at ppl its not funny old enough to know that killing something for sport isnt right and that if they are going to hunt do it for food, and anything else they can use off the animal if they are gonna hunt they should know how to take the animal down so it doesnt suffer they should be old enough to understand how it works, how to be safe while using it to make sure there isnt someone in the direction the gun is pointing and be at least 10 |

I'd say at least 7. Well, 5 if it's only semi-automatic. Really it depends on the number of zombies surrounding your house...

999 years old!!

i don't think i'd ever buy my kids a gun.
however, if the parent teaches the kid how to reponsibly use and care for a gun, with appropriate supervision and caution, i don't think 7 is too young. |

i think it depends on the maturity and 'non-ditziness' of the boy (or girl)

in most parts of the world id say over 18 but in Texas i reckon about 18 months old

I heard on the news that a 4 year-old shot his babysitter with a shotgun because the sitter stepped on his foot and the kid got mad. The daddy was real proud, saying the sitter stepped on his kid's foot more than once, clearly implying he had it coming.
Guns rock. |
