Topic: What do you usually say in a first message

Hey everyone. I'm new to this site and to the idea of online dating so it's safe to say that I'm not very good at it. I want to meet new people and have conversations with them however I'm not so sure what to put in a first message to get a reply. What does everyone here do? What tips do you have to offer to help me and others who are having the same problems?

As long as you are respectful & don't start off with "U R Hot!" you should be fine...

I dont email anyone, but reading the person of interest profile and maybe start a convo about an interest, or something along those lines. shrugs BTW, welcome to the site.

hey just be yourself, as long as you are nice and respectful people will talk with ya. But if you are perverse and being a dillweed then they shall ignore you. But just have fun relax and join in on the fun.... I have been hear a little over a year, and have met some wonderful and caring people in here.

Well for me, I'm more likely to reply if I get a message sayin hey Im so and so and asks me a couple questions...cause Im really bad at thinkin of things to say back....So I guess my advise is to do that say hey a lil bout urself and ask some questions...hope it helps!

yea, overal, just be yourself. I usually only send a message regarding something i found interesting on their profile, or a post. but a hello can never be wrong!

Wow, thanks for the really fast replies. All sounds like sound advice; be myself (as long as I'm not a dillweed), ask questions, look for interests, relax, DON'T ask them how much they cost =P, and mention that you like their profile. Also, sorry to hear that Riding_Dubz and thanks for the kind welcome hellkitten54.

It all depends who I'm sending the message to. Usually some comments about what I've read about her interest work hobbies. And some basic about me, the rest she can read in my profile.

If I email someone, I'll either comment on something from their profile, or something they said in the forums.
