Topic: Ladies: Are men today too soft? | |
---|---|
Humm back to the question I don't think men are as macho as they used to
be but it is not a bad thing. For I think that they have found out just being themselves get them farther in life than being Mr. Macho. Men can still be Men and have a soft side as well. |

people have differences so as guys do, so its not a big deal if a guy
would show his soft side, its just a way of proving that he is also human, not insensitive numb creature. hello buttons! |

geesh glenn your argumentive tonight.... why ask opinons if u cant
accept answers? her answer is fine... just used a word that u have a different meaning for.. than she did she told ya that... imroglios answer was fine too... was with the topic... |
No, BG, the terms used to insult someone of another race or persuasian
are NEVER considered terms of endearment. Huge difference, I'm afraid. |
imbroglios*... and i think it takes more of a man to show his soft side
that is pretty hard for men to do.... i find it macho myself that they show caring for the woman they are with... so i beleive it is a good thing... |

I remember looking up the word " nigger" in the dictionary when I was
younger. The definition was: One who is ignorant. So if I was to use that word and the defense that "That word means ignorant to me." Would I get away with that? I don't think so. Jean, I'm sorry about my hissy fit, but I'm trying to prove a point. Why is it that some words used by certain people are inexcusable and unforgivable, But other words referring to OTHER people are supposed to be overlooked and passed off as "HISSY FITS" when those OTHER people are offended. Sorry, The intent of this thread was not to go here, but it did. I think my point is valid. |
And Jean,
I hear "african Americans" calling each other "nigger" all the time and it IS taken as a term of endearment by them. |
You've not proven a thing, I'm afraid.
The word "ignorant" is hardly a compliment, either. Where I come from, by and large MOST people understand the term 'redneck' to apply to people who instigate and get into fights, most of the time just for the sake of fighting. It would be absolutely ASININE of me to state I hated rednecks if my understanding of the term echoed yours. If that's not succint enough for you, I don't know what would be. |
buttons,
You know I love you. Is it arguementative to be offended and explain why? I did ask a question and the comment that offended me had no bearing on the question I asked. |
I never said I've proven anything. I said my point was valid.
I'm just trying to tell you that the term is broader tyhan the way you use it and that I found it offensive. |

Glen, there's a huge difference between people of a certain ethnicity
choosing to take an offensive term and making a mockery of it. Anytime you want to put that to the test, try going down to a predominantly Black neighborhood some night and lovingly hollar, "What's up, Nigga?" |
glenn just scroll up... read what she wrote again... read her
clarifying it too, before this became a argument.... she was relpying to what she had said about her stament that did pretain to the thread..... |

I work in a prison Jean. Don't presume to tell me about walking
anywhere. |
And it may mean something else to you and that's fine. What you're
describing as a "redneck" I think of them being called "country boys" or a "good ol' boys." Redneck will always have a derogatory connotation to me, and what the term means to me is a person who is always wanting to fight with someone. And I take offense to people like that. Moreover, I explained that to you several times and it was at that point you should have accepted it and dropped it, not kept saying that you're STILL offended! You know what I know the term to mean and if you can't accept that, tough! This is getting beyond childish. |
ooh a prison! lol...such hostility! Kinda sounds a tad...hmmm..dare I
say ??? |
thats what i though a redneck was too... honestly what jean just said...
for whatever its worth... seems like a misunderstanding to me... just getting harsh in here is all... |

I understand your point Jean and I have from the minute you explained
it. The point I'm trying to make is... Other people use the word differently and the way you used it was offensive. My problem is that I've been told I'm childish For being offended. I'm called a multitude of things that I would never repeat here on a daily basis. If I was to retaliate , I would be the one in the wrong. If I was to speak to my "clientel" that way. , I would lose my job. I don't use insulting language to people because I know what it is to recieve such abuse And if I mistkingly used a term that someone found offensive, I'd be appologetic and not FLIPPANT to their concerns. |
"ooh a prison"
Yeah, and I beat my wife too. |
WRONG Glen!!! Wrong wrong wrong!!
Are you BLIND? Or are you just being deliberately antagonistic???? The "way I used it" was as *I* (me me me me ME ME ME) understand the meaning of the term, not how YOU understand it. When I say, "I hate REDNECKS"..what I mean is I hate people who always want to fight. Get it? I'm through with this childishness. |
I explained why I was offended.
Sorry guys. |
