That is all I was saying
no offense taken or anything (insert handshake here) |

BG, I'm talking about with regard to all aspects. The fight thing, the
laziness, the lack of chivalry, etc. It's still around, but very rare, from what I've observed. |

** tips his hat**
Alrighty then |
i should clarify I'm glad there's not as much fighting...I hate
rednecks! |
What does that mean?

I'm curious,
As a woman who has put forth very rational an well thought out statements, I'm a little surprised to hear you blurt out something as blunt as, " I hate rednecks." If I was to say I hate yuppies or I hate Jocks etc. I'm sure I'd get bombarded with comments about what a close minded brute I was. Some folks lovingly refer to themselves and their friends as "rednecks". These are people who usually listen to country music. Who like to hunt, fish, work on their own vehicles and other such mondane tasks that might be considered "beneath" an intilectual. But does this make them booze hounds and thugs that fight everytime they have a disagreement? Do they beat their wives and paddle their kids? I take offense at your statement. I grew up and still live in the north east and have always found the disdain for rural people that is prevelant in the city sickening. I have always considered the pseudo-intelectuals who consider those people as ignorant the truly ignorant ones. |

I've been living in the South for nearly 37 years and am a direct
descendant of daniel boone. I relate the term as *I* understand it to be, and when I learned the term, it was during a time that it meant someone who got into fights all the time. My experience may not echo yours, so you have to take that into consideration. |
And trust me, I'm no "pseudointellectual." I get my hands dirty on a
daily basis and no one does jack shi* for me. I know what it means to do backbreaking work, damn near to the point of being literal. |
<---- REDNECK
and proud of it. Fightin is something you do when pushed to it. Workin is something you do cause it needs to be done. Playing is something you do cause you want to. Helpin folks is something you do cause its right. |
Well, obviously I wouldn't say I hated rednecks if the term meant the
same thing to me as it does to you guys. Duhhhh... |
In the traveling I have done I've found that the biggest differences
aren't region to region but urban to rural. Thats off topic but my opinion. |
But you did Jean.
But I did what, Glenn?

You can be tough and emotional at the same time.
The best soldiers always are. |
Well for me I rather enjoy a man that can just be himself and be
comfortable with who he is...That includes being open to communication and discussing how he feels...I certainly don't consider that soft...But rather I admire that in a man!!!!!! |

Jean,
You did say, "I hate rednecks." I'm forever being called a "New York Redneck" by my friends and I don't take offense at it because I'm an old fashioned, rough and tumble kind of guy. I do take offense at your flippant use of the word. |
wheres the love? geesh guys she said she didnt mean it in the way you
took it what more can ya ask for? move on.... |
Buttons,
That's the problem. If I was someone of another race or persuasion, It might count. Imus said he didn't mean it either. |
I know i said it! LOL. I'm the one who said it. and you'll just have to
get over your self-induced wrong perception of my "flippant" use of the word, because I wasn't being flippant whatsoever. Once again, I made the comment drawing on MY OWN PERCEPTION of the word, not YOUR PERCEPTION of it and, quite frankly, the little tizzy fit you're throwing here, particularly in light of the fact I've already explained to you what the term means to ME, really just furthers my point. I mean, what MORON would state that they hated rednecks if they were speaking of someone who was a hard worker and worked on his cars and helped people? That's NOT what the term means to me and not to anyone else I know. Different terms mean different things to different people. Okay? Get over it and get on with it. |
