Topic: witches vs. other sinners | |

Im gonna put a curse on everyone who disagrees with me from now on............. I'm really not sure what your point is or if you are just making a joke. |

I just want to reiterate my point that this is not a blanket statement in Christians. It is something that happens to me from time to time to the point of being a bit scary.
Because of some of the responses here I think I have a better understanding of this. It stems from fear. I get that. It makes sense and perhaps I can deal with better now that I get it. |

Yes I think its generally fear based. Not competently but thats a big part of it. There is also some envy and curiosity mixed in there. Plainly the bible instructs that practitioners of the old way shall be put to death.

if a Christian perform magic it's called a Miracle and they are on the road to Sainthood if a non-christian perform magic it's called witchcraft and they are on the road to be burned at the stake This is so true. The Church wants all the power for themselves. They don't want anyone else to have any spiritual power or to be a prophet or healer unless they do it in the name of their god. |

Plainly the bible instructs that practitioners of the old way shall be put to death. Yes it does say that in the old testament. Yet Christians are followers of Jesus, are they not? And his teachings clearly state that that would be a sin. Of course now we are just getting into the many contradictions in the bible and I don't want to do that. Although maybe it is relevant. |

Well except that Jesus never denounced the OT.

Well except that Jesus never denounced the OT. Good point. At least not that we read about in the new testament. I am currently reading some of the gospels that were left out of the bible. Interesting to read. |

As far as anything I could find, he basically just says he's "come to fulfill" the OT. Thats not a good sign at all.
|
|
|
|
Wait. In the old testament it was taught to stone women who committed adultery. So the teachings of OT still don't explain the historical and current view of witches.

For worshipping other gods
If there be found among you ... that ... hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them ... Then shalt thou ... tone them with stones, till they die. Deuteronomy 17:2-5 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers ... thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die. Deuteronomy 13:5-10 |

For witches and wizards
A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:27 |

Wait. In the old testament it was taught to stone women who committed adultery. So the teachings of OT still don't explain the historical and current view of witches. I guess you can replace the word "witch" with a lot of other words, like heathen, devil worshiper, and so on, and so on. Basically anything that is different from what they believe. |

As far as anything I could find, he basically just says he's "come to fulfill" the OT. Thats not a good sign at all. I have heard that statement before. It doesn't really explain whether or not a Christian has to abide by the old laws or not. I know most Christians do not abide by them. They don't sacrifice animals or have food laws, etc. So it would make sense that they wouldn't kill witches anymore either. But they did as recently as the 1700's. |

So other than the fact that it is a crime there is little to stop them from killing witches again. ???

Yep.

Yep. No wonder I get nervous about their reactions. |
