Topic: Sheesh, Does Any Guy Read Profiles?

To the gentleman that can read Green Eggs and Ham: Then reading my profile might be a tad difficult since I use multiple syllables.

My feeling has always been that, in a written medium, if you want to make an impression, it makes more sense to give the readers something to work with. "Show your stuff," in other words. Of course, that presupposes that the writer has the skills to accomplish this. And one question I often wonder about, because most of the profiles I've seen are SO vapid and boring and empty, is whether the problem lies with the writer's literary skills (or lack thereof) or whether it's simple laziness. Either way does not leave me with a good impression, though.... I know a lot of people DON'T read profiles. I really wish I could find some that were worth reading.

I don't feel the need to explain myself as to whose profile I read (or DON'T read). What I don't like is being lumped into a blanket statement about "men". If only from a thread such as this, I would have no interest anyway in reading your profile, since your opinion comes across as already jaded. No need for me to find out any more information. Well unfortunately the world goes round with the majority vote and the original poster's comment has valid merit. I just joined this site and have received IM's from people asking me what my interests are. Um...well READ!! You may be in the minority of men and actually read profiles but the majority of men look at the picture and react immediately. I honestly do not think the OP meant to offend anyone.

Perhaps she didn't mean to offend anyone, but perhaps she could've chosen her words a bit more carefully, too.

Maybe they contact you for a lark. I say exactly what I'd look at and other ones contact me and expect me to chat with them with this IM flags, lol. Sorry, I'm old school and it will be a cold day in hell before I bring home one...enough said. we use to until we realized it doesn't matter.us men have written women on here telling you women that we liked your profile and guess what ...what a shocker,no responses.so now we have just decided to email women saying"ew baby you so fine"

Its an open forum and there is bound to be something written somewhere that is going to offend. Hell every time you turn on the television or read a newspaper you could find something offensive. And lets not forget "women" are lumped in together all the time. I am very surprised by your reaction to the OP.

I do note the folks that become offended never show themselves but post a thing of a picture. Oh! Chose every noun, adjective, verb carefully, Excuse moi. Oh! no French.

Not sure what everyone else's problem is. The only profiles I'm even interested in are the ones that stand out. I won't even contact someone who's smokin' hot if they had a dull as hell profile. You have to have a little more going than just looks to get most guys attention... atleast that what I thought.

I didn't give up on reading profiles. I still read them- if needed. I'm an old timer class clown on here. I've seen quite a bit. I've found out that I learn more about people by just conversing with them in the forums. I've made many freinds here that I truly care about. As for profiles?...........

And I was shocked and dismayed at many mens behavior. I was actually surprised that many of you women stayed on here after being subjected to such critical and blatant abuse.

I really think a lot of them don't ... mine CLEARLY states that I am taken yet I get emails on a daily basis
