yeah, in a way it is at times, it comes from both sides of the fence as well. I never tell anyone they have to believe what I do, I just give my response to some things as well. Yet it never fails to get accusations of delusion, crap, myths, wrong because thats not what most are taught, poked fun at, lol, no prob, I like to as well. I could really care less if anyone believes, It's my soul i'm concerned with when it comes down to it. Just the fact that someone professes their faith in God gets subjected to ridicule from all fronts in here. I call all this debate and differing and conflictin viewpoints, others call it bashing. If the shoe fits, ya gotta wear it.
I sure hope that I don't make fun of somebody's beliefs. That would not be my intention, but I will strike back when people continue to tell me that I'm utterly and completely wrong in my beliefs, (and most of them don't even not about my beliefs, one even accused me of being a Christian ), or when they tell me that I need saving, and start to throw verses of the bible at me, only to tell me that I won't understand them when I'm not saved. And then there are the name callers, but I shall stop here. |

Is less about being classified as an Atheist than simply speaking out about the horrors that are perpetrated by any extremist, religious faction.I am sympathetic to the Atheists in many cases. sure but that would apply to extremists of any belief or non belief. you shouldn't generalize a whole belief system based on the actions of a extremist faction any more than I should blame all Japanese and all Germans for the actions of their militant militaries in the 40's So I have no right to blame Christian Germans and a Catholic Hitler for the atrocities perpetrated during WW2? I am also not an Atheist. I would say blame the ones who committed the atrocities but don't project that onto everyone that believes in god Well that would have been the Christians then. Hitler was a practicing Roman Catholic. "My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people. -Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922 |

Everything is not always directed at you you know, you said yourself, things are taken out of context and meaning a lot of times just because of the medium we are in. |

Krimsa..that speech by Hitler ,is an example of how he used religion for his gain....
actual salvation changes a heart..and there are fruits of love and joy and peace showing. Not this hate hitler had. There were no fruits or signs of actual salvation in hitlers life atall. Just because someone says he is a christian means nothing, if there is no evidence. He might have been religious....or just acted that way to win the people... but either way, he used and twisted scripture for his gain, to win the masses.... but he surely was not saved at all. ( a real christian is a person who is saved.. not just someone going to church or just claiming to be a christian... and again, there will always be fruits showing...evidence of love and a changed life.) |

This is the way that I look at it.
One can be a Catholic and be a murderer. One can be an Atheist and be a murderer. One can be a Muslim and be a murderer. One can be Agnostic and be a murderer. One could be Jewish and be a murderer. A murderer is a murderer is a murderer. It does not reflect on the religion or lack of religious beliefs. |

It was a stupid comment made by someone who failed to think through the ramifications before making the statement on another thread. End of story. I do not hold all the Christians on forum accountable for that one individual. Lets move on.

Just goes to show you, No one is perfect and without sin. Not one of us, Not Christian, non Christians, anyone. We all fall short, Hitler included.
I don't think we are expected to be "perfect." (I don't think Jesus, if he even existed as a real person, was perfect.) But "sin" is a word owned and used by the Church and religions. It implies that the basis of "sin" is to reject or disobey a certain group's idea of God. (Christians mostly) If you are not a slave of religious dogma and if you don't follow that idea of "sin" and that concept of "God" then the word "sin" has no meaning for you. The only person who can think of me as a sinner is one who follows and believes that doctrine. If I am not part of that group, I am not really concerned with what they think or whether they call me "sinner" or "heathen" or "pagan" or anything else. That is their labeling system, not mine. This is a "free will zone." We are allowed to make mistakes. Mistakes is how a person learns. If you never made any mistakes, you would never learn anything. So if you want to believe that everyone is a "sinner" and that no one is "perfect" that's okay with me. I don't think about things like that. That has no baring on my life or how I live it. |

For those playing along at home, it was another case of the “no true Scotsman” fallacy that Christians are so fond of because it allows them to easily dispose of anyone that doesn’t meet whatever criteria they currently decide to use for Christianity. Child-molesting Catholic priests? No, they’re not real Christians. Bloodthirsty, murderous tyrants? Nope, they’re not Christian either. What constitutes being a Christian, you might ask? Why, whatever the person making the claim believes at the time, of course! |
