My family will have Poi(Hawaii), which is a taro root boiled and mashed to a muddy purple paste. It also tastes like muddy purple paste. With that we will have Muktuk (Alaska), which is a hunk of whale blubber, which looks and feels in the mouth like densely packed cotton soaked in oil. As a soup we will enjoy menudo (Mexico) which is basically cow stomach soup. If you can tolerate the slimy, rubbery tripe chunks, the soup itself tastes fine. It is good also the next morning if you have a hangover.

Then after the meal as a treat we enjoy casu marzu (Sardinia), which is a wormy cheese that is put in the cupboard for a couple of months so flies can lay eggs on it. The larvae produces enzymes that break down the cheese into a tangy goo. Have a espresso with that to digest it better please. Don't worry about the larvae they are very soft and gooey

and last but not least

we have Black Pudding (Britain, Ireland) This is pig blood that's been cooked with oatmeal and formed into a small disk. It doesn't taste like blood, more like a thick, rich, beef pound cake.

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Yearlaugh
