Topic: Level Of Mentality

I have serious topics and funny topics.

I join in on both all in one venture.

I do notice sex threads are more popular though.

I'm not big on politics or gossip. (although enjoy political movies
hmmmmmmmm.)

I can only post with the knowledge that I have.

Or I will pop in and say hi to someone.

But heavy topics, seem to be here, just not perhaps in general topics?

dunno.

Hey, here's an idea!

We can start a "Could You Have a Stimulating Conversation With..." and a
"Rate the Intellect of the Person Above You" threads!

drinker bigsmile

Only problem there is everybody would say "Yes, I would have a
stimulating intellectual conversation with so-and-so" with absolutely no
intention of ever doing so. No different from the "Would you have
sex....?" threads.

As for the ratings thread, everyone would magically become Einstein and
Stephen Hawking, just like everyone magically becomes a 10 or 20 or 200
or whatever on the "Rate My Pic" threads.

I have repeatedly made fun of these kinds of threads ("Please Rate My
Tape Dispenser" being a personal favorite), but no one seems to
understand the inherent absurdity of the original threads. As I keep
saying, topical satire is wasted on the wasted.

People don't post on "above you" and ratings threads out of any desire
to be honest or to establish any kind of real communication. Hell, John
Merrick could post a photo and get a 10 here. And that's OK, there's
nothing wrong with people feeling the need to give or receive a little
ego-boost (insincere and unrealistic as it may be) here and there.

It gets a little tiring when you see that sort of thing over and over,
though....

I generally only post in threads with topics that interest me, I'm more
of a lurker anyway, but when something catches my attention I will post
if I have something to say.

i'm not an intellectual but do read them to learn something. When your
nose is to the grindstone sometimes thats all you see and live.I like
the silly and the serious but you are right to get an indepth feel for a
person it would be nice to know their views on say children rather than
how big their weiner is.good thread.

(((((((((whisper)))))) couldn't agree with you more on lately there just
isn't enough THOUGHT provoked materials..

but there ARE 2 sides to this.. both can be logically argued that on the
ONE hand... silly inane conversations are a great stress release from
the regular B/S that riddles our dailys lives with THOUGHT provoked
responsibities.. as we could ALL use a lil laughter in our lives and
LESS DRAMA.. yet on the OTHER hand there IS a need to be 'provoked'
into WANTing to join a conversation.. many are too long and drawn out or
TOO indepth for MOST to want to participate in.. I've been guilty of
this as when I see TOO much writing I tend to sigh and go back to my
search.. (I have books abound on me night table thanks:wink:) athough
when a subject is TOO thought provoked and there can NOT be a unified
'meeting of minds' the fights break out cuz SOME just can't let the
OTHER have an opinion that differs from their OWN.. it's a catch 22
situation in THAT regard.. THUS said.. I DO agree with you on the lack
thereOF.. but in SOME ways it's a VERY good thing NOT to have TOO deep a
thread as most will just scoff at it... as you so aptly put.. it get's
ignored!!

so for the most part.. I prefer the often times 'silly and inane' to the
more indepth stuff... just cuz I live with eNOUgh Drama in REALITY and
prefer a more 'jovial' atmosphere in the SOcial side.. although wouldn't
mind at ALL if there could be a GOOD melding of minds carried out in an
inTELLigent fashion..

happy

irony.. laugh although sadly lost on most.. ohwell

one of MY faves (sorry lex ) is SPAY's "slap the one above you"
the sheer rebelous honesty of the post was just perfect.. and YES..
turnabout IS fair play laugh albeit again.. the humour AND fair play
is lost to some

Why don't we arrange it so there are nine people on the screen at one
time? Then we can all play a little "Brady Bunch" tic-tac-toe instead of
just having to look above?
Or just go back to the banjo auction site.

depends on what my brain is doing at the time...

I have less than brunette moments...scatter brained.

Other time I am very serious.

I just read a thread to a small minded mentality. Narrow minded, and
digusting, really.

Everyone has thier own ideas... and that's cool thing. Lots of things
to read, choose from...

ok, gotta find the coffee threadlaugh

Kari, you do not need big words to be able to hold a good conversation.
Trust me I am far on knowing any type of big words.

And everybody please remember when I made this post it was NOT to put
anybody down, but yet hopefully get people to think and understand, and
maybe see if there are others out there that agree with me. I understand
that all the new comers are going to need a bit of time to feel
comfortable and to find there place they belong here at JSH. And I can
see by my friends posts that we are doing a good job in trying to make
you feel that way. We have welcomed you with open arms. Do not be afraid
to show us who you are. We do not bite. We really are a friendly bunch
here.
