Whisper, I personally like intelligent conversation, but face to face in
person. I don't type fast and my thoughts are faster than my fingers. Nothing comes out in print like I want it to. Without facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice, everthing is lost. If I make a silly comment on here, I'd better put a LOL after it, or it's taken the wrong way. I wish I could talk to some of you in person, really. |

Kudos to sushi and ditto. Not everyone is good at typing and that is
just the technical aspect of writing. We think at the speed of the conversation we are trying to have and watch our fingers fumble. The art of writing is difficult-and forums are a great place to practice and play! |

Native, I am glad that you are able to joke with each other like that,
but it is going off on the point I am trying to make here. Sushi, I am not the worlds fastest typer either. And you do not need to be to be able to have a good conversation on here. |

I am well aware of that "one day at a time" thing. That has been my
motto for a long long time. Sometimes it sucks, but it is what it is. Sometimes it saves my ass. You sound like you have a great life. I could only wish. So, what is it that you do in your work? I mean I know what you said. But, is there anything in particular that you transport? Is it a big plane or a small one? How far do you travel in your line of work? This may get us more info to which we can talk about. I like you. I am enjoying your post. Kat |

I was answering to bikerbob, I think. Just playing around and trying to
get to know people. Kat |

Well I am off to bed. Seems that the board is getting off topic.

Is there a way to find a list of a member's threads?
I was going to look up Whisper's past threads and see if I could find anything interesting to respond to. I'm always up for intellectual conversation. Instead of starting a thread on the lack of mentality, why not just start a thread on the interesting intellectual topic that you'd like to discuss? I can't guarantee that I'll be interested in the topic. But if you start a tread on an interesting thought I'll try to respond to it as intellectually as I can. ;o) That ulimately all we can do. |

Abra, Thank you for responding. And no there is no way of bring up pass
threads. And that is one of my points about this thread. That every time a intellectual conversation is trying to be started they are the ones that get barried the fastest and get the fewest responses. I am actually surprised about the amount of responses I got for this post. Welcome to the site by the way. |

We ummm.......brought a heap of
intellectuals with us... |

<---is not intellectual.
I agree with some...the silly threads are useful when you want to not think and just play. However the serious threads always seem to degenerate into a silly thread somehow. |

this is a thread basically complaining that there is not enough
intellectual debate, many points have been made, the typing issue, the ability to collect one's thoughts and write them coherently and create a possibility for dialogue,...the fact that many things have been covered and said 50 different ways and do not merit saying again...and for us newbies the fact that we have yet to learn the way and language here to be acceptable... I for one am very conscious of the space and want to learn how you all communicate with one another before i jump in and throw around my ideas... i travel alot and have seen that any culture has an unspoken style of delivery and a language that moves without words...a decorum i am watching and listening and find that it is SO REFRESHING TO READ the ideas and styles of the posters here... i look forward to finding something worthwhile to contribute within myself ...without sounding redundant. i am still feeling like a guest and with all due respect will watch my manners thank you whispersto a scream for the opportunity to address this alex |

Whisper...you are right. I believe Mike and Van are thinking of what to
do with the forum categories, to clean it up a little. I guess sometimes people want to be here, to be with friends, but really not up to talking, just being amongst friends, while other times, silly threads pop up to get people interacting. Not being here for a real long time, I can say though, that there are many, many interesting, intelligent and thought provoking threads here. They just get lost in all the silly ones and they take longer to find some nights. And you're right, the forum is a great way not only to chat, interact, but to get to know other's, make friendships, possibly connect with the opposite sex.....it's what we each make it. I for one, am so very glad there are no dancing bananas in JSH and everyone has much to talk about, to offer, to share and discuss in many great threads. They just take longer to find some days. |
