I just feel like I'm not really communicating. That no one is
interested in talking about anything that requires thought, all they
want to do is "Would You Have Sex With The Person Above You?" and
"Please Rate My Picture." That gets old after the 4000th time, but
every time someone puts a thread like that up, there are a million
replies. Maybe that's the level of mentality here, I don't know. It
doesn't really tell you anything about the other people on the site,
either, because you know you're not ACTUALLY going to just have sex with
the person above you, and you know you're not going to give an HONEST
rating of the picture because if you did, people would think you were
being rude and insensitive.

I mean do not get me wrong those boards are all fine and dandy IF you
are really going to have sex with that person. But they are starting to
get tiresome, where is the intellect in it? To me it is boards you would
see a bunch of teenagers make. It is really getting hard to to find good
conversations with you ADULTS. I like this site and a lot of people on
it. I think Mike and VC do a fine job running it. But it is getting
tired some having to go through the posts just to find that ONE thread
that is worth talking in.

I am not trying to come off as the bad guy here. ANYBODY that knows me
knows I like to have fun on here just like anybody else. But there is
times that I like have an intelligent conversation. But it seems that
when ever those boards are made they are the ones that get the least
responses.

So my questions I guess is. Why? Is there anybody left out here that
feels the same way? Is there anybody out there that would just like to
have a normal conversation anymore? Please tell me. I would LOVE to here
from YOU about this.

But please remember I am not trying to put anybody down by any means. I
am just trying to get some input about this.

Although my time here in JSH is short, I brought a feeling of having
had enough of the above me threads from a previous site...and crave
intellect and stimulating conversation and ideas.
I have kind of hidden in the poetry section, to just get a feel for JSH,
and am only just venturing out of there to meet some of the locals...

Personally, I cant do the above me threads and the rate me threads...I
figure I will get rated on whatever post I make wherever I post, and
would rather be learnt as one that has an ounce of intellect, than by
how cute or how sexual, I think the one above me is...

Y0ou know and that is how we should be "rated". By how we post and what
we say by how we act while responding to those posts. Is that not the
whole point of a forum? To get to know people through normal
conversation?

I like that in women

whisper... you are right... but sometimes after a long day i dont want
the threads that make me think... i just want to have fun... but then
there are other times that i go into the "deeper" threads...

I usually just click on one of the most recently rated posts on the main
page. Then I comment and the thread dies. Sorry in advance for killing
this one too...

Biker I am glad that you like it. Just wish at times I could see more
people out there doing the same.

I have always been one for the intelligent threads. I love them. I like
learning and inputting. I can promise you that there are so many here
that are ready willing and able to do just that. Talk intelligent. Put
something out there and see.

I agree with you Whisper. When I see threads like that I just pass them
up. I spend more time looking for the threads that have good
conversation's going on. I might not respond but I do enjoy reading
them. I also was thinking the same thing as you but didn't want to say
anything. Just thought it was the norm here.

Whisper, as much as I enjoy the llama/caulking/paramecium/pencils
threads, it would be nice to be able to talk to some people about
something serious and heartfelt every now and then.

But every time I post something serious, I get six replies, basically
all saying, "Yes, I agree with you." And I can tell you right off the
top of my head who those six will be, every time.

Frankly, it's disappointing.

Tameka, As I said I have no problems with the "fun" threads to a point.
But when they seem to be taking over it gets rather old. I am 26 years
old and ADULT I like have real conversations with other adults. One of
the reasons why I joined a site like this. To be able to talk to other
adults like myself, and not read through all the teenager type crap.

I have to agree with you too whisper.I'm starting to get a little

I agree Whisper, normal conversation is the way to get to know another,
and all of their shades and colours of their personality...to goof off
and have a laugh with your friends...to add one's thoughts on different
topics..to express one's self in poetry and story telling..all of it.

I believe we are all diverse individuals with a whole gammit of
experiences, and some one some where, is going to share their thoughts,
and maybe make so muuch sense to me, it may help me if I am having
challenges.

For me, I won't find that in an above me thread.

I never go into the rate me threads or have sex threads. I always look
for your threads Whisper and Lex, and others who are having fun. I deal
with enough garbage at work that I want to come on here and laugh and
have fun, and I can be guaranteed some laughs with your threads.

I even got into the song thread last night, that one made me think about
song titles. But I do look for other threads, something to think about
and talk about. When Krow was on, he brought up a bunch of old silly
things, but they were things to talk about other than would you have sex
or rate my pic, and they were different threads.

I look forward to coming on here at night and fighting something to join
in, I can't write poetry but do read it and enjoy the jokes, and just
loves your home improvement threads Whisper. Keep them coming. I am
sure whatever you want to start will take off, there are a lot of us out
here I am sure who would like to get involved. Take care.

When I want to get serious I will go to a serious thread.

When I want to bar hop I will dance merrily through the silly threads.

I am a complex person. I like a balance. Can't have serious with out
frivolus or I would be only 2 diminsional.

I agree with you Ab....I like to discuss serious things but I also like
to come here to have fun and a few laughs!!!!

Being fairly new I haven't participated in many of the serious
discussions yet....BUT I am just warming up!!!!!!!!

Brain, I have seen the inelegant post made, I have also seen those
boards most ignored as well. I can name a few but I won't. They always
seem like they are the fastest ignored.

Lex, sorry about to agree with you. I know how much you hate
that But you are right it is disappointing and quite frankly a
bit bothersome as well.

I am glad to see that there are so many that agree with me. Maybe now
these boards will not be ignored and some more intellectual conversation
can go on around here.

Adventure I agree with you. But it seems that is all people are looking
for is the silly threads.
