I thought this article was fascinating.

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20026793.000-creationists-declare-war-over-the-brain.html?full=true

Here's a short excerpt (I'm only quoting one of the most provocative sections. The entire article should be read.)

"YOU cannot overestimate," thundered psychiatrist Jeffrey Schwartz, "how threatened the scientific establishment is by the fact that it now looks like the materialist paradigm is genuinely breaking down. ... I'm asking us as a world community to go out there and tell the scientific establishment, enough is enough! Materialism needs to start fading away and non-materialist causation needs to be understood as part of natural reality."

Thanks for sharing, Sky.

The brain

only HOUSES the Mind (which is part of the Soul of man).

( the mind consists of the thoughts, ideas, creative abilities, and ability to speak and act) .

The mind is a part of the Soul.

The Soul consists, not only of the mind,
but also
of the will and emotions.
(feelings and affections).

Soul however,is not the spirit....

Spirit is the third part of the triune being of man.

Man lives in a physical house, which contains the soul and spirit.

Man is a triune being...yet one man .

God is also Triune , yet One God.

Very interesting. I always thought the soul and the spirit are of the same thing. Now I know it isn't.

co-author of The Spiritual Brain: A neuroscientist's case for the existence of the soul.

He has an agenda, promoting his book, that does not invalidate any real peer reviewed research he may have done, id be interested in that . . . I will read more.

"Scientific dissent from Darwinism" petition, spearheaded by the Seattle-based Discovery Institute,

Wow didn't get three paragraphs in and now its clear LOL.

"From such experiments, Schwartz and others argue that since the mind can change the brain, the mind must be something other than the brain, something non-material. In fact, these experiments are entirely consistent with mainstream neurology - the material brain is changing the material brain."

Does no one see the problem with this statement?

Is it a typo? Consistent with the opposite of the previous statement.

Agenda makes the world go around...
The world go around...
The world go around...

No I rushed this post then did not catch it in time like I normally do.

The discovery institute is intellectually bankrupt. Tonight I will post all about it . . . it will be a great pleasure to post there antics in great detail.

In fact I will probably create a new thread just on the Discovery institute, and the trials to get ID into the classroom.

Its just a busy day at work.

I meant: is this just a typo on their part or are they really that haphazard?

If there were an agenda with Discovery Inst. (and of course there was) one would think they'd care enough to be consistent in attempts at conveying their ideas.

D'oh!
