Isn't acting hypocritically close to bearing false witness?

Just asking...

A person who makes a living running her mouth saying at times deliberately outrageous things breaking her jaw is poetic justice.

I would be similarly amused if Howard Stern had his mouth wired shut. No idea if he is a democrat or a republican.

I was also pretty amused when Rush Limbaugh who raged about locking up drug addicts and throwing away the key was found to have illegally obtained and used drugs.

Irony, poetic justice...call it what you will.

Since you list your profession as a "Student", should we all celebrate if you are in an accident that renders your mentally retarded? What about secretaries, should we celebrate when an annoying secretary injures her hands or fingers? Did you think it was "poetic justice" when Nancy Kerrigan got hit in the knees with a baseball bat?

So if people don't like you, then you deserve to be hurt?

I'm sure we can find people who have been offended by and felt outrage at comments made by Lynann.

Find one person who has never offended someone, and then ask me that question again. Okay?

Thank you for taking the time to check my profile and thoughtfully tailor your response to aim it at me. I am flattered.

Ms. Coulter is not permanently injured and will no doubt recover to go on howling with vigor for some time.

It is ironic that you use these examples to chastize posters here and to support Ms. Coulter when she herself has advocated not just the injury of those that disagree with her but has called for their assassination.

"If I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot."

"I was going to have a few comments about John Edwards but you have to go into rehab if you use the word faggot." --at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference"

Irony...look it up.

She is an idiot. People on the extremes either have emotional issues, or are idiots, some are/have both.

Oh, you are welcome. You see, I had to know your occupation so that I could ask the question and make it personal.

Ann Coulter's point with that comment should shame you. Bill Maher stated that he wished **** Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack. His comment got NO press. NONE. While her joke about John Edwards was front page news. That shows an extreme bias in the media. So she joked again that "If I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot." And you have proven her right! You bring that up as hateful, yet Bill Maher still has not been called to task for SERIOUSLY stating that he wants the Vice President to be killed in a terrorist attack. So you just prove her point by bringing it up. It's only controversial because she said it. You ignore the context completely and fall right onto your face because of the fact that you are blinded by your political bias.

My take on this is thus, people are given to dislike, or even hate anyone they want. But when you hate a way of life, or a decision that represents a lot of people, then use that thing as a way of belittling others . . . . well you just gave an entire constituency a reason to dislike you and get up in arms against you.Big difference.

Here is an example

I say I hate "whosawhatsit" and would like to see him dead . . . bam, "whosawhatsit" may not like that, and all of "whosawhatsit's" friends may not like it.

Now if I say whosawhatsit is a gardener, and gardeners are disgusting . . . and so that makes "whosawhatsit" disgusting . . . then I have now offender ALL gardeners and whosawhatsit's friends . . . .

See the difference Spider . . . this doesn't have to be about some liberal media conspiracy to see the difference . . . ..

Its simply a matter of constituency. It saddens me that this is not clear to you.

Your post makes no sense. Sorry, but I don't see the relevance.

Ann Coulter joked that John Edwards was a F-word.

Bill Maher stated he wanted to see **** Cheney murdered.

We aren't talking about a generalization, they bothed named a specific person. And Ann Coulter has said several times that she wasn't cracking wise about homosexuals.

It saddens me that this is not clear to you.

An inability to make fine distinctions and to carefully weight a subject seems to be common to many posters here.

Instead these boards are rife with assumption, broad prejudices and unreasoned passion. A number of posters here, who seem so threatened by ideas they think might not be in line with their own entrenched philosophies, that they do not even bother to read posts before deciding what they say confirm my commitment to keep speaking up. To keep fighting the good fight.

One of the things that attracted me to this board was the divergence of opinions, religions and philosophies.

I have been happily rewarded here with some good friends and with some reasonable and rewarding exchanges even with posters who do not share my views.

From some of you I have learned a great deal over time and I thank you from that. I am a better person because I shared something with you.

From others I have learned or should I say relearned a much uglier lesson. For that I thank you as well.

Nothing could confirm my feeling that education, communication and a commitment to work for the betterment of my country is essential in these times given the level of hatred, bigotry, smallness and ignorance that is present in society.

I am thankful every day to learn and to fight for justice.

Again...hat's off to you all.

In closing a favorite toast of mine to all you posters.

Here's to you as good as you are;
And here's to me as bad as I am;
But as good as you are;
And as bad as I am;
I'm as good as you are — as bad as I am.

How disgusting...your display of hatred just because you don't like her politics. That's hate, wanting ill will toward someone.

So agree with that, she does spew a lot of hate and like someone stated earlier it's poetic justic. And in my opinion karma, bad karma will always come back to bite you in the rump

I don't wish ill on anyone. But..what does a student and a secretary, and Nancy Kerrigan have to do with the irony of someone who talks hate and can't talk for three weeks?

Most of Ann Coulter's "hate" is in the form of print. I don't see the irony. When she speaks "hate", it's usually in the process of explaining something she wrote.

Ann has a very caustic and sarcastic style of writing, but she is also very witty and funny while making extremely valid points. If the left spent some time trying to refute the points that Ann Coulter makes, maybe they wouldn't be so worked up about how she makes her points.

And please notice that you created a strawman fallacy, no doubt on accident. I said nothing about irony, but rather "poetic justice". Poetic Justice means that the deserved rewards or punishments were received. I don't believe that those with whom I disagree deserve to have their jaw broken and it seems wrong for anyone to feel that way. I have to question the dedication to free speech of anyone who views Ann Coulter's current situation as poetic justice.

I think this says it all. Spider and Anne would get along fabulously.

And spider if you seriously don't get how making fun of gays, vs saying you wish someone dead would offend more people, then yous sir are not even trying . . . .

All of this love feels great.

To think all this time you guys were thinking that I was witty, funny and made extremely valid points, but the only feedback I was getting was that I was caustic and sarcastic. I guess I do know how Ann Coulter feels when people complain about how she delivers the message rather than trying to debate the message itself.

Quote something you think Anne has said that you felt was valid.

Because I know myself, I only hear of her when she is being a wretched idiotic *****.

It may just be the good ole media only gets the really good juicy bits of her for us.
