Red deer are just a species of deer found in Europe & Asia. They are not mutants from the radiation & are found many other places. They are called red deer because thier coats are reddish brown.

The Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) are a species of even toed ungulates, closly related to Wapiti aka ELK, that are native to all of Europe and Asia Minor and have been introduced to the Caucauses in eastern eurasia and the Atlas ranges in Northern Africa.
They were a favorite game animal of Joseph Stalin and were introduced into kyiv in the early part of the 1930's. Its just a reminent population from that time period |

Good question. I don't know. It is a species of deer. The "red" has nothing to do with radiation. You wont catch me eating any Chernobyl venison meat thats for sure. Generally Im not in the habit of having to run a Geiger Counter over my wild game before cooking. |

In 1986 was the Chernobyl accident. Now they are finding red deer there found no where else. The word got out that no humans would enter the area so the wildlife is jumping for joy. Plus, who would hunt and eat them? About Chernobyl: I saw a special on television about that told by a man who was there when they were cleaning up the accident. Thousands of men volunteered to work to contain and clean that up knowing that there was a great possibility that they would die for doing it. The structure containing Chernobyl is currently in poor shape. It could eventually deteriorate and become a problem again. |
