Posting this here again because I know there are people who read and post on this thread who are passionate about the military and about the sacrifices made by all in the service of the country.

I have been posting information about this charity on various forums for several years.

In part because it touches my life. I spent several years as a navy wife away from my then husband. The sacrifices made by the families of our service men and women are often overlooked as are the realities of life in the service.

Please consider supporting this charity.

I don't care how you feel about the war. I am going to assume each reader here knows someone they love. Friends or Family.

Please, look into your heart when you read this and think about those you love. Then stop and think about the people who are rightly or wrongly far away from their loved ones.

There are men and women deployed who may be able to get leave but who cannot get home simply because they cannot afford it. There is a charity that is registered with the IRS called Welcome to Let's Bring Em Home.

Their website will give you details and the appropriate legal information. This charity isn't one that pays itself. It brings men and women home to be with their families. Some of them for the last time.

From the site: http://www.lbeh.org/

OF COURSE we're doing it again this year! How could we pass up our EIGHTH opportunity to help our nation's military spend Christmas with their loved ones! That's right, each year we take donations to purchase plane tickets for junior enlisted military personnel, allowing them the opportunity to fly home and spend the holidays with their families. This program was initially started in December 2001 to show our grateful appreciation to American service members deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and has become an annual tradition ever since.

Last year we raised over $70,000 and helped 135 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines go home for Christmas. Our sincere thanks to everyone who donated last year! This year we understand the burden of a strained economy has us all in a pretty tough spot. People are losing their jobs, their houses, and their hope. The economic downturn has many pushed many of us towards financial hard times. But we're hoping to still pull off a few Christmas miracles for our deserving troops. Our donation page is always open, and we will begin taking international ticket requests after November 11th, and domestic ticket requests will start shortly thereafter. Stay tuned for more details!

The world is a very different place from what it was seven years ago when you and I first began this journey. As public opinion for the war in Iraq has molded the phrase, "bring them home," to imply other motives, I want to take a minute and remind everyone of the purpose behind LBEH. We are not for the war in Iraq, nor are we against it. We are not Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green or Independent. We are not pro-Obama or pro-McCain. Our motives serve not to change world events, or your perception of them. Our mission is as simple, as it is noble. All we want to do is unite a few military families for the Christmas holiday. That's it. No hidden agendas, no political speeches. We just buy plane tickets for troops. Period.

I know times are hard for all of us but times are harder for those who serve and for their families.

There are some people that are cool with american soldiers dieing and just don't care about them and want to keep them there to die.
I for one am glad that Obama is doing the right thing.

THIS IS A CHARITY THAT SEEKS TO REUNITE MILITARY PERSONAL AND THEIR FAMILIES WHILE THEY ARE ON LEAVE.

CAP LOCK....A TEXT YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE

Thank you for bumping this thread.

What ever it takes to get people to take a second and consider the troops and their families that might be unable to come home even when granted leave.

This is a fine program that reunites families at the holidays. Some for the last time.

I know times are tough but again...please consider supporting this charity. Give a gift to them and yourselves.

Bring them home for the holidays. Don't worry, they will be going back when their leave is up to maybe die on foreign soil. Rightly or wrongly.

In my own opinion, just an opinion, we should have never sent those troops there in the first place. Reminds of that thing we did in the sixties and seventies where we needlessly sacrificed so many good Americans in a jungle.

We need to bring them home, if the terrorists take over Iraq in the power vaccuum there is nothing we can do about it. Know why? You can't beat Partizans on there home soil. They live there we don't. If we are going to keep supporting a nation on the other side of the world, let's make it a state and have it contribute to the common good like the rest of our states. Otherwise, Iraq is a rich country, let them take care of themselves.

We've been there for what 5 years spending a ten billion a month, what is that 6 trillion dollars that isn't being spent on our own? I'm glad I don't have children, let alone grandchildren. If I was thinking of them alone, which with all the cries of "what about the children" we in this country ought to start thinking about them, I'd be embarressed that I was shackling them with this kind of debt. You know, up to now, the "greatest generation" has been controlling the congressional purse strings, maybe they weren't so great.

What ever it takes to keep this post bumped is fine by me.

Rightly or wrongly service men and women are separated from their families. You can make a reunion possible whether it's a precious few days or forever.

It takes more than forum posts however. It takes real work and financial contributions.

Keep fighting the good fight.

THANK YOU, from one VERY PROUD MILITARY MOM!!! I have only two children, both sons, and both military. I don't enjoy seeing them go to war, but couldn't be more PROUD of them!! My youngest is due to go over for the fifth time. My oldest for his first.

To those of you who have ill feelings about all this...whatever your feelings on this war, please don't bash the military. They need our support more than anything. If you feel you have to bash them, how about finding one and sitting down with him or her and have a conversation with them FIRST. Get the real reasons they are doing the right thing by being there.
Merry Christmas to all and God Bless our military, both here and abroad!
