I had my updates on automatic and it installed this. It totally corrupted my Internet Explorer. Anyone else have this issue? And how do I get rid of it? I can't even do a system restore.

Try using FireFox or Flock. I haven't used IE in almost a year.

I tried Firefox. I had to download a bunch of add ons and reinstall Adobe Flash Player, Java, etc... I wasnt sure for security issues, so I uninstalled it.

Good morning,
Try RegCure (not free) many things mess with your Registry. Most things are like guys and cars: chevy/ford/dodge and on and on. Whatever is best for you and is legal!
Using ie6,7 or 8. Opera is ok to try. But work mostly on MS, go to their community page and always check with blackviper.com, a good guy there.
Best regards...

What type of firewall are you running on IE?

The SP3 update has an issue with the Zone Alarm firewall, if that is what you are using.

From what I have read on Tech sites, malicious code writers are attacking Fire Fox because it has become so popular.

Don't think that just because you use Fire Fox you are safe.

SP 3 turns the firewall on by default and has a lot of security updates. I've never had an issue with it, but check the firewall settings. I use 3 programs in tandem with each other to keep out the malware and adware. No problems here at all.

I agree the more popular an application or operating system the more it is attacked. If Mac were the top dog then all the viruses would be going after Mac.

See that's what I use and I don't have any trouble at all. I had heard that was the case but was pleasantly surprised that I have none.

Edit: plus ZA put out a fix for that. Just remembered that.

The corruption was probably cause by the dowmnload process some files didn't install it happens a lot with big updates like Service Packs try to get a copy of the SP3 on a cd and install it from there.

Ok, first thing is that if you installed sp3 and you are certain that is the problem and not a virus or something then you can simply go to your restore and restore your computer to before you added sp3.

As a side note for all of you FireFox lovers, did you know that it tracks and records every user name and password that you ever enter on your different websites?
