COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Disgraced evangelical pastor Ted Haggard says he was sexually abused as a child and that the experience "started to rage in my mind and in my heart" when he was caught up in a sex scandal involving a male prostitute. Haggard made the remarks in two recent sermons in Morrison, Ill., ABC's "Good Morning America" reported Wednesday.

Haggard said one of his father's employees "had a sexual experience with me" when Haggard was 7, according to audio recordings of the sermons posted on the ABC News Web site.

Haggard said he later became "a conservative Republican, loving the word of God, an evangelical, born-again, spirit-filled, charismatic, all those things.

"But some of the things that were buried in the depths of the sea from when I was in the second grade started to rage in my mind and in my heart," he said.

Sexual abuse can cause someone to be self destructive.

I don't know the guy or his history.

If he was the victim of abuse I hope he gets help and moves on. Oh, and I hope he quits trying to make a buck off sin. His or other peoples.

I do know that he made some phat cash in the past playing up and to haters.

How many times have we seen this sort of thing before?

Preachers and family values people doing drugs, engaged in affairs same sex and other, personally enriching themselves, divorcing...well all the behaviors they preach against and at the same time engage in.

You don't need a crystal cathedral or a lear jet to preach the gospel or feed the poor.

You do need a couple bucks to snort coke of a male prostitutes bare back though.

Child physical, emotional, and sexual abuse is unforgivable and no doubt can have an adverse affect on the adult life. But when something bad happens to me, I don't seek it out and make happen again.
I don't know, maybe I'm just a hard a$$, but I think that has become an easy excuse for bad behavior. Bad in this case being because he had a loving wife and kids, and people all over the world who looked to him for guidance. IMO

pretty good excuse, no way to proove it did or didnt happen. and you get to go to the church and get pitty beacause you got touched in the bad place when you where 7.
