We covered this before many times on this board. Whites don't own racism. Every one of us engage some degree of stereotyping.

The real measure of a person is how they chose to act.

Yesterday was a great day for everyone in this country.

Now we can all look at our sons and say, "You can grow up to be anything you want! Even the president of the United States"

I look forward to the day when we can say that to our daughters too!!

McCain lost I think in part because he looked to the same people who defeated him in the primaries leading up to the 2000 race to help him win this time. Many of us saw him abandon his long held principles and embrace the religious right. Remember he railed against them when they worked to defeat him in what was the nail in his run in North Carolina. You cannot ride to victory on the back of your former enemy.

Add his election of Palin as icing on the cake and he was done. I know many republicans who just couldn't get past her selection.

Whites don't own racism is a matter of opinion !

White indeed dont own racism. that is no opinion it is a fact. i just hope that racism itself took a real shot to the head yesterday and that it is even weaker that is was before we knew President Obama.

Oh and i wouldnt be hesitant to say to young women they can be president Hillary Clinton showed you that it is possible and even Palin on some level. If there Where no Obama we might have seen Madam President Clinton last night.

Oh come on!

I know Mexicans people who don't like whites.

Whites who don't like blacks.

Greeks who don't like Turks.

Germans who don't like Englishman.

The list goes on.

Honestly....you must admit...there was nothing about him that we had not seen before.

He had no fresh idea's...he's been in Washington for ever.....but has done nothing impressive, so why would anyone vote for him.

He had Condoleeza Rice, served to him on a platter to be his Vice-President, but instead he chose Sarah Palin...which clearly was a bad decision.

The issue of race was constantly brought up...and in the end, most people that voted for McCain were white....however more whites voted for Obama then McCain....why ?

Is it possible that McCain was really that bad... or they really wanted a change ?

looking in from the outside I'd say he was too in line with Bush ... the Bush fiasco was too big a liability... and I am still shaking my head about Palin who?

he lost because the country was voting for change...anything NOT republican...a continuation of the 06 mid term elections...any dem would have won...any republican would have lost...Bush is that unpopular...

G-

There's more to it than that. I didn't like his health care plan. Didn't like Keating 5 and he cheated on his first wife.
I didn't like his campaign tactics.

Well for one...OBAMA went back on his pledge as far as the campaign funding issue. He then got way more than McCain who kept his word, & outspent him all over the country. It made it easy for OBAMA to spread his lies over the McCain message.

Now if you look at the balloting questions...even in Ca. people are more conservative in their values than the media would have you believe.

I also think the market slide hurt REPS this time around & also I think people have the right to have a seat at the table when it comes to working class issues. Not the social engineering schemes & politics these jerks play.

I'm telling you that the next backlash is going to be against the DEMS if they don't produce. OBAMA ran as a conservative & made alot of promises. He now has to produce...there is no one to blame anymore or REPS to lash out out.

It's "grow up time" for the COUNTER culture. Let's see if they can be more than a bunch of meely mouthed crybabies who like to rant than make quality decisions.

Now.... having said all that I REALLY wanna be wrong. I hope that your hopes are realized but I won't stand by & watch anyone turn this country into a banana republic.

Great point about the new generation of left-moderates being cry babies. I wished they'd follow YOUR example and grow up and quit whining ...

LOL..you're right...OBAMA was all over the map & changed his postion many times...it's all on video. He said what he thought people around the country wanted to hear. I wonder what's going to happen when they realized he lied?

he lost thanks to the dog who is sitting at the white house at this moment.
probably McCain could have been better, but the dog being a republican like McCain and the always hottie Palin, messed up the whole thing.

McCain is a right fighter. He cares more about telling others he thinks they are wrong, and being right, than the issue itself. In debates he tanked. He smirks and is disingenuous. I'm not the only one who saw this, seems like.

My cousin has always voted Republican. She would not vote for McCain for the very reasons that you just stated.
