Why are people so freakin' shallow these days? Is there anyone out there who actually looks at anything beyond the surface level when trying to choose a future spouse or lover?

It's not always shallowness.
Attraction has to play a role if there's going to be a sexual future... otherwise it's not dating, that's just friends.
I love making friends as much as anything!

I suppose there's some guys out there who just want to F#$%... in that case they aren't interested in a friend regardless. winking

Yeah I read people like I read a book. If the book doesn't have any substance then I'm done before the first hundred pages(days) are up!

It just seems to me that people would basically try to avoid judging the book by its cover...you always miss so much of the important stuff when you do that, you know?

well you ever wonder why so many marriages end in divorce because they never actually got to know the person on the inside

But not everyone is shallow, it's just a matter of finding the right person

We are a visually driven, want it now, society.

People glance at the cover, if if the cover art isn't good enough, then what is inside the book won't be looked at in any way.

Attraction, yes...what about beauty within? I mean haven't you ever met someone really beautiful but who basically was a b*tch? Didn't that make her uglier? Same with someone not so beautiful on the outside...wouldn't their awesome personality be something that shined all the way though?

I have been accused by freinds concerning women I have dated that I could do better. I tell them looks are temporary but the soul is eternal. I would much rather go out with a woman who has mental substance than a playboy centerfold, and if they have both it is icing on the cake

we are programed to think that way ,to be shallow. we want pretty and sexy, handsome and muscular. thats what is on every book, movie, ads that we see. sure we want some one to love us but, will we be embarassed by them when they meet are freinds or family. man its hard to live by worldly standards they aren't fair . but , we all have choices which one do you choose?

The book is better than the cover...most of the time, anyway.

Perhaps it is. But those of us who don't do that are in a very small minority.

I wholeheartedly agree.

One of my criteria for buying a book is that, regardless of the cover, I will open it up and start reading the first chapter. If it grabs my attention, I'll take it.

It's not so much the cover as the content. It'd be nice if a lot more people could figure that out.
