Can you believe the record numbers of voters across America? What has brought the people out in droves? Is it because there's a candidate who's life and looks reflects our mainstream population? Or is the old ideas of our "founding fathers" still hanging on by their nails? America's face is changing, and people have a hard time with change. What are your thoughts?

Yes, it is absolutely a fabulous thing that voter awareness has risen to all new highs.

Obama is scaring the hibbie gibbies out of people, so folks are coming out of the woodworks to vote for John McCain.

What part do you think race will play? At first I was disappointed to hear people voting for Obama simply because he's an African American, however its been documented that some ignorant voters may vote for McCain simply because of Obama's race. Do you think these two factors will help Obama, McCain, or have no effect/cancel each other out?

Take your pick: a once in a lifetime candidate, a once (hopefully) in a lifetime running mate, or a once in a lifetime economic crisis. Just about every demographic has their motives.

The St. Louis area had about 250,000 new voters last month. The majority of them were Democrat.

Unfortunately race does play a part with some individuals, for African Americans it's as if it's some sort of vindication, or recognition that a black man can do the job as well as a white man, and it not really matter whether he has qualifications or not, flip side of the coin, some caucasions fear that a black man in the white house will destroy the power that they so tightly held since a government was instituted. I believe both sides are scared in some ways. Race benefits both candidates and someone's got to win, let's hope the Supreme Court doesn't get involved in this one too.

Add to that formula, the people that are voting for McCain ONLY for the abortion issue even when they don't like him.
To complicate things even further, people that would have voted for McCain are not doing that now because of Palin.

to be honest im not to fond of early voting way to many open doors for voter fraud
im sure we will have new record amounts of fraud in this election

But...one must remember that the majority of African Americans are Democrat to begin with and are voting for their party. Also, black people have been voting for white men forever.

It's already started with the machines failing to operate correctly. In the past, the Board of Elections has been pretty good about finding the frauds.

This is about the machine problems. It doesn't look good, IMO.

It has been increasing each of the past three election years. On the whole, it is a good thing. But at the same time, people seem to be getting more and more polarized, more and more upset at the mere thought of the opposing candidate winning, and more and more tense about it all, on the verge of violence even. And that I think is not so good.
