Plato felt that an oligarchy was the best form of government because the people are too selfish and in a democracy they would vote for a lot of entitlements and ultimately bankrupt the government.In an oligarchy, a group of individuals would have responsibility for different aspects and resources of the society and would maintain a balance of power by having the capability of making tough and unpopular decisions for the masses. Yeah it’s called a Monarchy and history has proven PLATO wrong time and time again. Oh’ and who decides who is the best of a society anyway. I bet it will not be you or me. .

Sociology teaches us that there has always been an oligarchy.And in fact the renowned philosopher Plato said that the best form of government would be an oligarchy rather than a democracy. Cool Thought! Oligarchy, in political philosophy, form of government in which the supreme power is vested in a few persons. Political writers of ancient Greece used the term to designate the debased form of an aristocracy, or government by the best citizens. In an oligarchy, the government is controlled by a faction that acts in its own interests to the exclusion of the welfare of the people it is governing. Elitist and Tyrants that's cool????? Mirror post was cool. And as for Elitist. Hi! UMMMM...You may be an elitist in your mind - but to these folks you are a bum living in an ally and drinking his own urine and breathing their air. We are talking super super wealthy and very power hungry. They would like to make soap and lamp shades out of you, your wife and children. You are cattle to them. I'm not married. Only if we stand agianst our tormentors, shall we be free.... I will fight and die before I cave to our pathetic ways of society..... The government is only out for themselves.... Thats how it is, past, present and in the future...... Its is in human nature to be selfish and greedy...... Only the strong shall survive!!!! awesome attitudea and viewpoint Thanks..... We are a lower species to them. They can control governments, armies, police, media and our money. What do we really control?... think about it.
