one way or the other, its always best to have some sort of plan in case something bad happens. its the boy scout thing,,, be prepared. it really doesnt matter to me who wins, cause i belive we are screwed either way, but it will be helpful if most people are ready to hunker down for a few weeks if something bad pops off.

I thought about not posting this subject for a couple reasons.

The main reason of course is that there are a few hateful people here who I sure will use the subject to churn up a little more hate.

So who thinks it is going to hit the fan no matter what the result of the election is?

Who thinks the government might be part of that? Will they go so far as to incite rioting? Remember there were many police participating in the Chicago riots than demonstrators.

Are you personally doing anything to prepare for civil unrest?

Police Prepare For Possible Election Night Riots

Will election night bring civil unrest?

--------

Police departments countrywide think it's a possibility, and they're preparing for riots or other violent reactions to a McCain or Obama victory, The Hill reports.

There is particular concern that a loss by Obama, who has built a big lead in the polls, could prompt significant problems.

"Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations," The Hill writes. Detroit, Chicago, Oakland and Philadelphia are among the cities that plan to have extra police deployed.

“Are we anticipating it will be a riot situation? No. But will we be prepared if it goes awry? Yes,” Oakland Police Department spokesman Jeff Thomason said.

Oakland will have extra units trained to deal with riots deployed and SWAT teams on standby when the results come in. Many police departments are preparing as they might for the possibility of a championship win or loss by a local sports team.

Some believe riots could come no matter who wins.

“If [Obama] is elected, like with sports championships, people may go out and riot,” Bob Parks, an online columnist and black Republican candidate for state representative in Massachusetts, told The Hill. “If Barack Obama loses there will be another large group of people who will assume the election was stolen from him….. This will be an opportunity for people who want to commit mischief.”

OK so now you are telling me that if I don't want my Hood burned I better vote for Obama.

Typical Community Orginized Activisim... Intimidation, threats of violence, mob action, disruption of normal business... I have seen this before... Problem with it this time is... It will be based on a lie.

Martin Luther King had a dream... Is this part of it... I think not.

I like how they basically say that if Obama loses, black people will riot, and if Obama wins, black people will riot. Nice to know that these are the people we have on the force...

very soon , people here who exercise their right of free choice will become targets of Homeland Security, for inciting civil unrest, and with the Patriot Act...we will be ceased, held, and probably dumped in a mass grave..Government Death Squads... If u dont have a gun,,better get one soon, right to bear arms and defend yourself, From the government.

Ummm...you're in Canada.

It is distressing to read post about negative ways people may or may not react to the election. We have it in our power to demonstrate either the best of U.S. behavior or the worst. The world will be watching.

Win or Loss may all react in a respectful manner.

Large numbers of disappointed black people = rioting? wtf???

Why do people think that just because black people are disappointed by an election outcome that rioting is inevitable...
that is so friggin offensive to me on so many levels... when black people have rioted in the past it was usually for damn good reason... to protest dehumanizing treatment and prejudice
for anyone to say that they fear that blacks will start rioting if Obama loses is such a racist stereotype that diminishes and underestimates our common sense its almost laughable.

There are even many more millions of white Obama supporters out there... are they expected to riot as well or just us dumb, riot-natured black people??

huh

It is unfortunate that racism's ugly head still is alive in the U.S.

this whole election is a 'riot' An unrestrained outbreak, as of laughter or passions.
