No kidding... but of course, it's all going to go to Charity... Yea right. There is just no reason to spend 150 grand on clothes for a few months. Donate the money, not the clothes. Tho... I'm sure people will be bidding on Sarah Palin's Jacket sick Whatever. I would be so pissed if I had donated money to this campaign.

Just was on the news. No campaign funds were used.
And clothes aren't hers to keep.

Actually, U couldn't pay me enough to do what she is doing. Media is so cruel. Look at her gafs and then Joe Biden's - sure does not get equal laugh up time!glasses But, it has been shown unfair almost from the start. BB

PS. If U couldn't tell, I'm w/Clint Eastwood, make my day (smile) like he does and back McCain!

She needed the clothes for this campaign because she IS a hockey mom. She only had plain old hockey mom clothes so the RNC (not her campaign) decided to give her wardrobe an overhaul. All of the clothes will be auctioned off.

I wonder what oBama's clothing allowance is. I'm thinking his clothes aren't Target specials either.

Not like any of this makes a difference. The simple fact is that OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST. Pure and simple. Just ask Bill Ayers.

Oh give me a break! What they did with buying her $150,000 in clothes was BARELY legal.

It's amazing how Republicans flock to defend this.

It's an OBVIOUS problem for the campaign.

Yes so the clothes will be auctioned off... what about the thousands of dollars spent on "make up and hair"?? How do you auction that off?

You can't auction off her makeup and hairstyle consultations she's had. She's everywhere trying to defend her actions. I'm sorry but how you stand there and say you understand the American people are going thru, and how you know we're suffering. You're going to fix the economy. And blah blah blah in your Saks Fifth Avenue clothes??? You can't associcate with the struggling people of America with $150,000 shopping sprees for 3 months worth of campaigning. And I'm sure Sarah Palin will turn over EVERY LAST ITEM she bought with that money to good will. Uh huh... right.

Lets not forget the over $20,000 bucks she charged to the state of Alaska for her kids to travel with her to places they weren't even invited to. I especially liked the 5 hour lecture she had to attend and stayed for 4 days in a luxory hotel and her kids had a seperate room... all charged to the great state of Alaska.

More on this.

So why did the RNC and not McCain's committee pay for the accessories?

The 2002 campaign finance law that bears McCain's name specifically barred any funds that "are donated for the purpose of supporting the activities of a federal or state office holder" from being used for personal expenses including clothing. A quirk in the law does not specifically mention party committees, however.

That doesn't mean the expenditure would not be subject to a challenge before the Federal Election Commission.

Lawrence M. Noble, former general counsel at the FEC, noted that as a coordinated party expense, the clothing purchase could be considered a contribution to the campaign.

"And if it was a contribution, then it could not have been used for buying clothing," Noble said. "I don't know how the FEC would come out on that question."

"If it is covered (as a personal use expense), the argument that we were going to give it to a charity doesn't help," he added.

Fifteen years ago, McCain himself complained that restrictions on political contributions for personal use at that time were too broad and he wrote an amendment to tighten the law.

"The use of campaign funds for items which most Americans would consider to be strictly personal reasons, in my view, erodes public confidence and erodes it significantly," he said on the Senate floor in May 1993.

The expenses include $75,062 spent at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis and $41,850 in St. Louis in early September. The committee also reported spending $4,100 for makeup and hair consulting. The expenses were first reported by Politico.com.

The RNC also spent $4,902 at Atelier, a stylish men's clothing store in New York. Other purchases included a $92 romper and matching hat with ears for Palin's baby, Trig, at Pacifier, a baby store in Minneapolis.

Wing Witthuhn, who owns the store with her husband, said a young staffer with an RNC credit card purchased the clothes during the Republican National Convention in St. Paul. Trig wore the romper the night Palin addressed the convention.
