It's tough...my youngest is getting ready to go on his fifth deployment. My oldest is getting ready for his first. But we are their moms and we have to stay strong and support them! THANKSGIVING PRAYER FOR OUR SOLDIERS
Today we gather around the dinner table with family and friends to share good food, warm laughter, and the happy memories of Thanksgivings past. But for many families, whose loved ones serve in the Armed Forces, this year's Thanksgiving celebration will not be complete. A familiar voice will not be heard and a chair at the table will remain empty because, they have someone far from home serving our country. Today also, members of the Army, Marines, Navy, Airforce and Coastguard (men and women, Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard alike) will gather in mess halls or in tents across the globe as friends and comrades to enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving meal. So, as those of us who are blessed to be with our families celebrate and give thanks, let us remember in our prayers the homes that have an empty chair at the table and also offer a special prayer of thanksgiving and ask God’s Blessings for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, whose service and sacrifice will, we further pray, make the world a better and safer place. And a very special prayer dear God, for those homes that have an empty chair that will forever remain vacant and for those servicemen and women who have come back to us, may their sacrifice not have been in vain. THANKSGIVING PRAYER Oh God, when I have food, help me remember the hungry. When I have a home, help me remember the homeless. When I am with friends and family who love me, help me remember those who are friendless and shunned. And remembering, help me destroy my complacency, move my heart and reach out by word and deed to those who cry out for what we take for granted. |

Amen Thank you so much, Vanessa, for your continued prayers. We have found out that my son is to be stationed in the state of Washington and that he will be going overseas by the beginning of summer. We are trying to get ourselves ready for the move. Please pray that the transition is smooth. A Soldier's Christmas Prayer
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS , HE LIVED ALL ALONE , IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE . I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE. I LOOKED ALL ABOUT , A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE. NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS . WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS , A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND. FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT , IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY. THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE , CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME. THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER. WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED? I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT , OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT . SOON ROUND THE WORLD , THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY. THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE. I COULDN' T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE , ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME. THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY. THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE , ' SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE; I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON' T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS . THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP , I COULDN' T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP. I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS , SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL . I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT , THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT . THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE, WHISPERED , " CARRY ON SANTA , IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE " ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH , AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT . ' MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, ! AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT . This poem was written by a Marine. The following is his request. I think it is reasonable. . . . PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed. thank you |

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. To give you an idea of how my youngest son feels about the military, here is a blog that he has out, that I would like to share. "Well my brother and me have shared a bond of blood since i was born. He is more then just my brother he is my best friend and some one that i respect and admire for the recent decision that he made to serve under the same oath that i took 9 years ago. See my bro decided that it was his time to serve the greatest country in the world and pledged his life to defend his country along side of the greatest men and women to live in America. He has stepped up to a challenge that less then 1% of Americans are a part of. I can only hope that one of these days i will be able to hold my rifle side by side with my brother on the battle field so that we may serve and if necessery lay down our life so that others may live on to serve and protect. GO ARMY HOORAH AIR FORCE. love you Rick." How can I not be proud of my children? I love them more than life! Thank you for bring two fine young men into this world. I also want to say Thank you to all of the men and women in uniform that put their lives on the line everyday so that My daughter and I can enjoy the freedoms that we have. I also have family members that are serving this great country. God Bless each and everyone of them. |

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. for ever and ever. Amen Lord, I ask that you please place Brenda, and her two beautiful sons, under your protective wing of mercy. And provide them the love, strength, and protection, that they so desperately need now. I ask this in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen. |

We thank you for the grace and faith with which wives, husbands, children and mothers and fathers handle all of the business of family life while our soldiers are away serving our country. Give each of them strength, hope and joy. Help them handle unexpected problems. Reach out to them when they are lonely. But most of all, fill them with the knowledge of our gratefulness to them for sharing their loved ones with our country. Amen |

an email came my way...this is how it goes
HOORAY, HOORAY, HOORAY for Paul Harvey. I myself have been grumbling and wondering how a handful of people that have come to our country to get their freedom and have some rights, have been able to take our right to pray in public places away from us. So, agreeing with Paul, I GLADLY will forward this email AGAIN, AGAIN AND AGAIN. Folks, this is the Month that we RE-TAKE AMERICA ********* Get Ready ********* Keep this going around the globe ... Read it and forward every time you receive it. We can't give up on this issue. Paul Harvey and Prayer Paul Harvey says: This is the United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations. Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying. God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well, just sue me. The silent majority has bee n silent too long. It's time we tell that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn't care what they want. It is time that the majority rules! It's time we tell them, You don't have to pray; you don't have to say the Pledge of Allegiance; you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right; but by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back, and we WILL WIN! God bless us one and all ... Especially those who worship Him , God bless America, despite all her faults. She is still the greatest nation of all. God bless our military who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God. Let's make 2008 the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions .. And our military forces come home from all the wars. Keep looking up. If you agree with this, please pass it on. |
