I still stand by my stance, you cannot rehab someone...either they change or they don't, but no outside party can assist in that. It is a choice all their own.

I think for the most part your right..

i said it in an UNEDITTED quote before..lol

They have to want to change for themselves.. no one can force them to do it..

And I dont think there are many that can be rehabilitated..

They reoffend and reoffend and reoffend.. most of our prison population in this country now are not first timers.. they are reoffenders...which just goes to show.. they wont rehabilitate..

The death penalty has not deterred ANYONE from committing a felony.

It should be abolished.....

It sure as hell put a stop to the ones that DID commit the felonies though.

So you think if youre convicted of a felony you should get the death sentence?noway

Youre frikken kidding right??

Felonies dont just consist of the most heinous crimes...murder,rape,crimes against children

Write a bad check over a certain amount..THATS a felony..Someone should have to die for that??

Please tell me I misinterpretted thisfrustrated

flowerforyou No its because one out of every 149 Americans are targeted by people for imprisonment. Its an industry. They need to keep that money rolling in. Maybe they arn't the ones that need rehabilitation.laugh When I was in my missionary church group ,I actually went with my pastor and witnessed the Lord to these people in jail and in prisons. I cant turn my back on that. I am my brothers keeper. I also know that single men in my age group are also targeted for imprisonment. This is why I always keep in mind that this could be me. I suppose it looks different when your part of the system.flowerforyou Profit makes things look different to a person.flowerforyou

Yes, Missy. You did misinterpret. And yes. I WAS just kidding around.

There ARE some cases that I think capitol punishment is justified. Not all felonies are worth that punishment, though.

To deny the facts that people end up in jail as a convienece for someone else is to ignore the facts. But at the rate people are committing homicide, even multiple homicides, as a society I don't think we can afford to let them attempt rehailitation, which is more often an expensive farse, or house them for the rest of their rather long an sheltered lives. I don't buy that a killer is ever old enough to not be a threat in society. Would you want a killer in the nurseing home with your Grandma? I don't think so. Unless maybe he raped and murdered your daughter and you could systematically torture him when the staff isn't looking. We have and exhaustive appeals system and if that is not enough to catch the one innocent inmate then that is a cost of protecting society from the animals that make law abiding people sleep with one eye open.
