Topic: Diverse music tastes | |

Sometimes it's really incredible when two very different types of music are fused together - like when Hank Williams III invented
Country-Metal a few years back, although he calls it "Hellbilly". |

I think the best genres are created when 2 extremes are crossed to create a middle ground...which leads otherwised biased people to embrace a commonality, which eventually changes their perspective on what they thought theyd never enjoy.
Similarly, in the words of the great senator bullworth, "everyone should just keep ****ing everyone and eventually we'll all be the same color" |

Dude.....promise me you will check out Fishbone.....maybe start with thier greatest hits? ahhh good sh!t. diverse tastes are a must. I've got over 300 CDs all copied to my computer with everything from coltrane and louis armstrong to chicago and the doors to a whole lot of older punk and a bit of older country a la cash and williams and the like. My favorite band has always been social distortion... the old stuff is mostly influenced by the orange county punk scene in the 80s but as they progressed, they brought in obvious country and rockabilly influences. strung out is another band that plays with a more punk rhythm section and a more metal guitar and lyrics... i've never heard any band quite like them (well obviously there's the followers) but the sound to me is just incredible. |
