About The words (ALL MEN) or (ALL WOMEN)


People can be talking about somthing simple and not actually mean (ALL) but alot of people will take it kinda personal. I think that is one of the issues there is being on a forum and is used alot.

So what makes it so importunate to express our selves on how wrong it is to use it?

I think it is important to express yourself, your feelings, your emotions, etc. It's called communication But, to use words like "all men, women, always, never" etc really just generalizes people and lumps them into a category that they may not fit into. Labeling, I think, is highly divisive and a dangerous thing to do. I think some people to remove themselves from the pack mentality and start thinking in terms of individuality. And I'm just as guilty of falling prey to this on occasion as anyone else. Takes a lot sometimes for me to pull back and realize I'm doing it.

Generalization is just bad

Really, I think 'all men' and 'all women' started out to just be a familiar phrase we used, not really meaning 'all'. Pointing out 'all' men and women are not alike has been helpful for me to stay away from using that phrase. Having said that, I don't need the point reinterated every time one of those kind posts come up...I get it and I'm thinkin a lot of folks do.

I think if people said what they meant and meant what they'd say this would not matter.

Why guess the posters message? why not speak/express them clearly?

Trouble is you are not hearing them speak, so while they could be saying it in a less serious manner...well you see this really...and then the 'your mama' joke gets out of hand and everyone thinks they are talking about their mama's when in fact it was only to a few a select peoples mama's.

dont think you truly can Shadow, as these words are written, we cannot hear the laughter, sarcasm, strength of the words intended... we can assume (but I've heard it's not a good thing to assume )

Hmmm. I say... say what you mean to say how you mean it. Articulation and effective communication are key.

The difference between "you biotch" and "you are acting like biotch" are huge. The same goes for saying all men/women versus some men/women.... or my favorite, there exist some men/women who....

We, as readers, should read a clear and concise message. If the writer didn't write it that way, it's not our problem. As I always say, write for the reader and not yourself. If you want to write for yourself, the way I see it, go buy a journal. Spare the readers the hassle.

I am not even gonna answer this cause lately...alot of people on this site have taken things WAYYYYYYY to seriously. I even have to put freaking disclaimers on my posts when I am being funny, sarcastic...so as to not piss people off. And that is sad.....very f*cking sad.
