Okay, so everybody! ::

It seems to me this "down to earth" term is something that is totally to interpretation but doesn't really mean anything. If this is the case, what does it mean when you assign literal meaning to it? Does that mean it's a flirting tool to those who use it?

Down to earth to me is someone that is low key not into the material things of life but still enjoys good things. Laid back, honest, easy going and don't let the little things in life get to them. JMObigsmile

It's not a flirting tool...

It's a way to describe character traits, it's a subjective term, but has the same vein definition for everyone with different connotations.

The OP is a concrete thinker.... There is no concrete definition to this word that you are going to understand.

sorry I realized I had to bring the defintion up to the OP's level... He's concrete and doesn't believe in unicorns... I'll assume some type of engineer or something with math is his profession.

When a person dreams of great, but far fetched ideas, it is said their head "is in the stars"

The opposite of that would be "down to earth" which means focused, realistic, precise point of views.

Hey I dig, if a certain category won't understand the term "down to earth," I dig, and I hope it isn't used except by those who have already excluded those who have already excluded certain brain-types. Hmm... Maybe it means nothing then, for the general public? (i.e. productively)

A lot of people say they're down-to-earth because they think it means that the force of gravity has the same effect on them as on everyone else...

In their view, I guess down-to-earth would be a pretty general term.whoa

I didn't exclude you sugar, but I'm so down to earth I realized you didn't see things outside the box so I explained it to you in your terms. I'm not insulting you, you're highly intelligent. But I'm willing to bet you don't paint, write poetry or sing... Nothing wrong with that, you are who you are.
