Okay, I am overweight. I need to lose some. I work on. Sometime I ruin my own plan, I LOVE great ethnic foods. Sometimes, sacrificing GREAT food just to lose weight when I'm out with others doesn't seem worth it. But I try to work out and watch what I eat when I'm eating by myself.

And I put it on my profile that I'm carrying extra pounds.

But what really gets me are all the people who are obviously overweight saying 'average'.

I don't care your size, I'm looking for friends and if I find someone, great. If not, no skin off my nose. But is it a matter of people trying to hide it, or deceive themselves, or do they really just know what average is for their hight?

Being happy with yourself is far more important than conforming to society's norm's.

There're plenty of people who prefer a little extra; I agree, there's no need to hide it.

Personally, I think corsets look a bit better if you are a bit on the heavy side!

I think the average Body Mass Index in the U.S. has shot up so much in recent times that it is not altogether surprising that people's perceptions of the "average" body type has undergone a change. It is always shocking to me when I return to the U.S. after a trip to Europe--people seem morbidly overweight here. What is saddenning is that 8 times out of 10 I see these very same people walking around with extra-large servings of Coca Cola and fries. I think that the root cause of the problem is education; research shows that there is a correlation between socio-economic status and obesity, with those in the lower strata of society often lagging in education. But of course, who gives a f**k about education, right?

No, not education. Often, they had the same classes. I think blaming it all on education is a way to ignore the REAL issues of obesity in this country.

No it all comes down to cost.

When grocery shopping for a family, or even yourself, the processed, fattening, poor nutritional foods are the most cost effective. Fresh fruits, veggies, and meats cost more and the costs are going up rapidly, while I noticed that a lot of packaged meals are going down slightly.

I can't buy chicken anymore. The cost of chicken has DOUBLED since this time last year. Beef has gone up a little. Only pork has stayed stable. Fruit has been going up in price faster than veggies. But veggies have been creeping up too.

I stated average on my profile because I lost a bunch of weight and still have some toning to do....so...not really slender...no extra pounds so feel I have an average body for my age and height

My ex mother in law always said she was going on a diet, but could never stick to one.
I said to her that there was a way she could lose 10lbs of unwanted fat in 10 seconds flat.
When she asked me how she could achieve that I replied, (whilst retreating out of the room)
'Chop your friggin head off!'

She didn't talk to me for three weeks. I wonder to this day why. But the peace and quiet was brilliant.bigsmile

Hehehe, I knew someone who lost 7 lbs in one day. She cut her long long hair into a shoulder length cut. That was some heavy hair.

I think a lot of times, it's a case of trying to lie to themselves enough to believe it.

There have been quite a few here that I have seen that had " a few extra pounds " listed, but their pics ( and I know that pictures are BAD for adding weight ) clearly put them into the " obesed " category.

Then again, there are the ones who just don't think that being completely honest is a good idea because they don't think ANY guy wants someone who isn't model sized.

: shrugs :

I clearly state in my profile that I am a BBW, I never hide that fact, however when describing myself personality wise I say average..it all depends on the context I suppose

Some people actually aren't aware that they are over their ideal weight, especially if they are around many that are on a daily basis.

It's really simple to solve this.

Exercise, eat mostly salads, and take your vitamins.

Christian Bale was Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, lost it
ALL on coffee and apples, then went to a Batman physique after not being able to do one push up.....in like six months.

C'mon people.
