person A says: I state my opinion anyway I want to it's my right and I'm going to exercise it.

(ok right.....)

person B says: I think your opinion is trash and I don't like you for it.

person A says: You have no right to talk to me like that, I'm just stating my opinion. If you don't like it don't listen to me

(wait, wait, what?)

person B says: So am I. If you don't like it don't listen to me.

Person A says: You must have mental problems because I'm only stating my opinion.

Does anyone else see the irony in this?

Why is it the ones who feel they have to "fight" to have their opinion heard never want to hear anyone else's opinion?

sounds more like a typical argument on an internet forum.

This is why I state my opinion, but rarely go back to read what other people say about my opinion. Those types of arguments are so pointless. And there is ALWAYS someone who has to go there.

You rang?

That is irony, the reason? I don't know personally, but probably because they either always had to fight to have their opinion heard (as a child or some sort) or they never really expressed their opinion much (again as a child or of that sort).

Right and person B never said DON'T state the opinion but in turn they shared theirs...but person A gets all upset about it.

You've basically described about 92.3% of the religion forum in that one question.

By the way, you're going to hell, too. Or Arkansas, or some warm place, who knows?

I think you are right. I had to fight to have my opinion heard as a child. And I had to break myself of that bad habit as an adult. Which is why I try to avoid letting someone else draw me into that kind of stupid battle. It just results in giving someone else power and it is pointless to let someone else try to rile me up.

I've tried to do that and I think you are awesome for being able to do it, but I do like to hear what others have to say, I change my mind about subjects and if someone has a reasonable argument... I'll listen to it.

SOME people live to want-to-express an indifference!
SOME people live to OVER-LOOK indifference's!
SOME people just don't care to SEE anything!

I try to go in that direction. But if an argument ensues in the thread, I just have to leave it to avoid letting myself get drawn into it. I don't like to let other people take me to a dark place, so I distance myself from it. It's just a thread after all. No reason to give up my power over myself. There are more important things in life.

It happens in real life too.... I'm Pagan and this friend of my friend is Buddhist, which at times the values cross over, and we were talking once in public about it... just swoping stories and thoughts and ideas on our respective religious belifs and some guy walked over started to argue.... mind you not stating any facts or figures just generally telling us we were wrong.

You're a wise woman, someday I too may be able to do that.... (I doubt anytime soon though)

Up in MN, I'm sure we'll see plenty of Pro-Life/Pro-Death Penalty signs.

Ironic AND "JUST THEIR OPINIONS"

Some people just feel they'd rather be right than happy. I think Moondark has the right idea and is happier because of it.
