I thought of putting this in games, but games seems to be all about thread games.

Since it is a PC game, I came over to this forum.

I'm at the store looking at the pre-order box for Spore. It says internet connection required.

Wait a minute, I thought this was a single player game!?!?

Apparently, it pulls content from other peoples games to populate your world. But it is a single player game. Hmm, that's the most I can find out.

The IMPORTANT BIT is elusive......does this game have a fee?????

How does it work? Because if there is a monthly fee, I am not getting it. Even if I have spent the last 9 months waiting for this release. But so far, my searched turn up empty handed.

Says ANYONE heard anything about fees or anything?????

I bought a similar game called "portal". Had the same problem and just threw it in the trash.

No more single player games that require internet connections for me.

It was so damn time consuming, and confusing that I didn't want to bother.

Portal is one of the best games ever. If you have internet, you should seriously give the game a try.

Portal was a Steam game. Required internet because of the Steam Engine, but I know that one didn't cost monthly fees.

Seriously, portal is so worth it, just to get to the end. Just to get to the "Still Alive" song.

Turns out, the cake wasn't a lie........

My favorite part was killing GLaDOS. When she starts reading from your "personnel file". laugh

"It also says you were adopted. So that's funny, too."

EA has a nasty habit of charging for stuff that should have been in the original game but they turnaround and call it an expansion pack. That and their horrible business practice of killing off smaller companies with technology that could take over how games are made, and with that technology EA does nothing but release nonsense of what could of been.

Apparently the new head honcho at EA says this will change, until then I haven't purchased an EA game since Need for Speed Most Wanted.

I LIKE expansion packs. They come out when I'm starting to get a little bored and re-energize a game for me. It keeps a game from being something I play once to something from which I get MUCH more usage. It keeps it alive and growing.

I think you may want to find mods for these games instead of the expansion pacs. Some of the mods that have been made for HL2 are a great add on. I have all of the valve games. I have found that one I enjoy playing in called Garry's mod. They just came out with a newer version of GM10. I have gotten to the point where I think a lot of the modders do a better job a producing the mods than some of the original makers. And most of the mods I have are free.

I totally agree with you about the mess EA has put them in. I found with many of their online game were written poorly, as why some many dang patches needed. After the problems with BF2, I have stopped playing EA games. Even the console games for the play station have so many glitches in them it unreal. But; when it comes down to producing a good, smooth operating game; or making a profit. I still think EA will look at the profit.

That's because EA is a standard in gaming, think about it...how many sports games do you hear of? Madden, Nascar, and the respective year. What about movie based games? Godfather, Harry Potter, etc. They make games based off popularity and they take out the competition that if given the time could in fact surpass that standard of game production. Look at the TakeTwo situation, EA released to the public how much they were offering shareholders in that stock...personally I would like to see Ubisoft take TakeTwo because I think they could really do something with that company.
