I am a woman so I've only seen one side of this when viewing mens profiles. So please whether you are a man or woman I'd like to hear from you.

I posted this in the general thread too because I wonder if age is a factor in peoples experiences.

Is it just me or are others suspicious of profiles without pictures?

I've learned that many of them are posted by married men.

What do you all think? Are profiles without pictures a good clue that the poster is married?

Yeah I agree, but the truth is...even when there is a picture, you can't be initially sure that you're looking at the actual person.

I've found that after awhile here, I've become pretty good at recognizing someone who ISN'T real.

You have proof that the pic isn't indicative of anything...look at who answered already, one has an awesome pic ,one of monkeys, now who should i trust? 40,000 posts between the two and which one is real..I don't know...
I used no pic for a while and got tired of folks saying the blue box should have no opinion because the blue box showed nothing.I am surely single last time I checked and the pic will never prove that one way or another.
The thing that jerks me is pics of anything but the person...as you all know the "rules" say the pic should be of you..(and by the way, I don't talk to monkeys)...may be my loss but, if you can't follow the rules, why should I take the time to start something with someone who can't follow guidelines...seems silly because she may have a different norm than the other folks here who do follow the unwritten rules of ettiquette .If you get my drift..please use pictures of you, not fake fairies or animals or someones car...to all

Take every thing with a grain of salt while traveling the roads into the land of the Internet.
Pictures are a must, if anything to give you an idea of what that person looks like.
Except for the "Torso" pictures, i would think that a face connected to a body would be a better indication of a real profile.

Sometimes I prefer no picture. I then have no preconceived ideas about the person I am corresponding with and I tend to take more time getting to know them. As best as one can on the internet. How well a person expressess himself is important to me. Can He find a coherent sentence much less write one. I have learned in this dating venue, which I started in Jan of 2008, that I need to think outside the box in order to meet new and interesting people. That does not mean that lying about who you are and what you are is acceptable. I speak for me only. Lies always come out, eventually.

If I am focused on a picture then I tend to discount someone who may not necessarily be "my type". The last/only man I have dated (past tense) on this site was not "my type" However, we did make some good memories and I learned alot from the experience.

So surely this experience taught u not to judge a book by its cover?

Personally, i like to see who im talkin to, but then again, im not lookin to hook up with anyone.

I caused a LOT of controversy over on my last site because of fakes....i gained the nick-name "cam queen" cos i wouldnt accept ppl on my friends list unless i had seen them on cam. I started a "Real list" whereby ppl who had been seen, and interacted with, would be classed as Verified. I was called nazi and given terrible treatment over it, all because i thought i was tryin to keep ppl safe.

I was stalked online by 2 guys for a fw yrs, and they used to send me mails laughing at the regulars for being so gullable...tellin me they had their passwords and gave me intimate details of ppl. My cam was recorded and played back to a male friend of mine, whos comp was busted after that, and i was also sent programmes and viruses cos of me tryin to create awareness of them.

Many respected me for it, but many also hated me for it.

Online, u never know who u r talkin to, and seein them on cam at least shows ya that the first part is true...their character will show in time also.

Absolutely!!!No book can be judged by the pretty pictures.

Sounds like I could be considered gullible. Thanks for the education Lady. I know I got lucky and God was and is looking out for me in my inexperience in these matters. I too am not "looking" for a man just spending some time when I can't sleep.

However, my education and what I do for a living has honed my ability to identify BS skills to the max and I ALWAYS follow my instincts. This is not my first rodeo so to speak...maybe on this venue but you can meet frauds in person too. I do value your experience and appreciate the heads up...If you are a reader check out the book "Kiss My Tiara" sorry my daughter has it with her and the authors name escapes me...Great book lots of empowerment and laughter. Have a great day

It's a tough call. One should post a self portrait if they're going to introduce themself to the world. In my case, the dog was a helluva lot cuter - and not even my dog. Borrowed camera from sister, went to upload and thought "what the hell". With that in mind, guy/gals that outright lie on the profile is B.S. I have never been married and have no kids, I'm still new to these sites and it's a bummer to find out that somebody viewed me and assumed I was B.S.'ing about my marriage status and other things, so in that respect I have to agree with JuliaA. Image isjust that: an image. There is a message button to ask something. Isn't that we're here for? As for the rules go: when uploaded puppy dog, I checked general guidelines, said nothing about had to be me. I know my glasses are old, so if I missed that rule leet me know and I'll repost picture

I think profiles without pictures are just that, profiles without pictures. Nothing more.

as if that would be a clue as to whether the member is married, I'd have to say no. Just a preference not to post pics.

No, I see an equal amount of shy and lazy people who don't see why they need a picture or are too insecure to post one.

But I see married ones too. I don't reply to no pic folk.... at least not after I say post a pic or you're out. This is an Internet site, you put yourself out there or you don't join. Now, I have friends that are here only for friends, they post whatever pics they like. They are not trying to hook up.

I would still rather see some sort of silly picture of anything than just an empty box!!

And most of us who have the "other" type of picts also have real ones you just have to look for them
