if descrimination is such a problem as it was in the 60s,70s,80s,and 90s.then how in the world can a black man run for president?there is great progress being made and i think like most its for the best.the race card is not the best card to play anymore.it would be crazy to do away with government aid to low income that have been put in that situation because of catastophic things. such as disability.but not to non american illegals.will other countrys do that?i feel the same way towards corporate welfare also.thats not what our governments job is. its to defend us. Discrimination is still alive and well in this country other than that I agree. Illegals are not eligible for welfare, that was a propaganda lie told to further the hatemongers in this country to get at the illegals. But they missed the whole point, they don't recieve benefits from the government so the citizens who are hiring them here are the problem. |

Considering there were groups in the U.S. who were treated far worse than American blacks during slavery, I think the diversity-oriented mongrels in this thread should put their foot in their mouth and stop playing to the ethnic entrepreneurs who propagate such lies regarding American "racism." I put "racism" in quotes because it is largely a manufactured, exploitative tool used to divide and conquer. Obama has done his fair share in this election, but he's been leagues better than America's favorite bacterial infection: Jesse Jackson. There is no more racism in America anymore than there is in Norway, China, or Kyrgyzstan. In fact, America is probably one of the most tolerant nations on Earth. Not true. Sorry war |

EOE/AA is an oxymoron...you can't be both. If you are Equal Opportunity, you will hire anyone regardless of race, gender, ethinicity, etc. as long as they are qualified for the job. If you are Affirmative Action, you only are interested in hiring minorities, hence, you don't want to hire the right person for the job. You are more interested in hiring as a bias. Hence AA is discrimination. In other words....Affirmative Action proves it. You slipped up there, who says the minority is not the right person for the job???? Depends on if they have the skills and job requirements. Or if they can perform the job. They Can or Can't... |

I don't know why slavery is being brought up, it was banned in the 1860's, that is 150 years ago.... Why not Protest the revolutionary war while you are at it. Slavery is the root problem that created alot of the problems today. There are still whites who feel they own this country and should have control. They will stop at nothing to keep this control. Their is still people in this country who discriminate when hiring, doing business, where they live, etc... Until the playing field is even and equal there will be issues here. I think people like you are the root of the problem. |

Not true. Sorry war
No, it is true--to disagree with me on this is just intellectual dishonesty. The application of slavery as we know it in the USA was not nearly half as bad as half-baked liberal history professors make it out to be. While it is true that the infamous "Uncle Tom" abuses took place, black people who were slaves had relatively sane living conditions compared to their Polish, Irish, and Chinese counterparts who were essentially exploited not just for labor, but for war as well. And though most blacks were not seen as legal individuals, they were treated much more humanely than other groups in America, as well as compared to those in Europe. Quite simply put, in the most politically incorrect manner, blacks need to stop complaining about the moral wrongs committed on their ancestors. The political fall out today is justification for the ideas of deporting the former slaves back to Africa upon their emancipation. Thomas Jefferson once wrote: "It will probably be asked, Why not retain and incorporate the blacks into the State [instead of colonizing them]? Deep rooted prejudices entertained by the whites, ten thousand recollections by the blacks of the injuries they have sustained, new provocations, the real distinctions which nature has made, and many other circumstances will divide us into parties and produce convulsions which will probably never end but in the extermination of the one or the other race." --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XIV, 1782. ME 2:192
Slavery was a ruse, a dying institution which could inevitably not exist within a civilized society, and assimilation of former slaves (and their descendants) is now primarily to blame for the social, and/or alleged "racist" problems of today. These are not consequence of being black or white; these are consequences of human nature. |

If you are Affirmative Action, you only are interested in hiring minorities, hence, you don't want to hire the right person for the job. You are more interested in hiring as a bias. Hence AA is discrimination. In other words....Affirmative Action proves it. Its because a lot of people wouldnt hire minorities (allowing them a chance at decent living) if they could get away with it and it used to be worse in the past because things were more segregated. That's not the case now, so why have it? Why are the Liberals pushing it year after year after year? Why can't things be made simple? Make it all equal opportunity.....I don't know, maybe the simplicity isn't what people want...it just seems like it would work better that way... Know why? Because Affirmative Action proves it. I understand what your saying Space but unfortunately it still is a problem. Its getting a little better with each generation but discrimination in hiring still exists, and everybody deserves the right to have an opportunity to earn a decent wage and pursue a dream. It would be much much worse without affirmative action. I disagree, fo rone very simple reason: Age discrimination. I spent 6 years in ocean rescue. I spent 6 years as a police officer. I am currently in the US Navy. I run an average of 3 miles every other day along with 100 sit ups and 100 push ups. Yet, Fire Departments in Texas will not hire me because I am too old, yet I can do things a lot more than most guys half my age. I call that discrimination. Yet, i can't do anything about it because it is written in law. Plus, in addition, I see a lot of minorities as Fire Cheifs, Captains etc, yet white guys/girls can't seem to get past the rank of Leiutenant. Yep...Affirmative Action proves it. I've been reading some of these posts here, and even though i know this is not in sequence.. i just have to say {{{{{ <<<< Spaceman >>> }}}}} i am soooooo sorry about what i have read here you do easily put men half your years to shame & more not only with who you are ... but... with what you have done in the past and what you do on a daily basis now!!! you absolutely < Smoke> most people i know... i cannot believe the discrimination you are getting please excuse the expression, but... it absolutely sucks |

Dragoness I have to tell you How smart you are the compasion you have for others just warms my heart I wish all women were like you but sadly so many who claim to be christian have no human descency I completely understand what you are saying madman! People should be like you. You are a shining example of leadership for the men of America! Some wannabe men that I have seen in my lifetime won't just come right out and tell the person they don't like directly what they think of them instead of stabbing them in the back like some sniveling little ball-less flag burning surrender monkey! They will show their utterly spineless nature and prove Darwin wrong by showing that even the weak do not die off by natural selection! Instead they show their lack of a third leg by telling someone else in front of the person in question! but not you! You are THE MAN! And I tip my hat to you! You sir, ROCK!!!! |

The original poster attempted to state his conservative perspective in a positive way, yet the thread degenerated into attacks, slurs and name calling. This brand of "politics" has to change or we are screwed.

This is what 7 years of the George Bush Jr. Administration has given us:
Borders that are still not secure and are even less so now. A botched war with no end in sight. More terrorism, not less (Al Quaeda? Guess what? They're baaack!) Less economic security. Spending spiraling out of control and an enormous increase in the deficit. Less national security as we are unable to manage conflicts in other parts of the world or even effectively root out terrorists in other countries. More greed and corruption. I could think of more but that covers some of the main points. So, to all the Republicans that still support Bush Jr. and his policies: Are you still proud of the man and what he has accomplished? To all the Republicans who no longer support the man or his policies: Congratulations! You've evolved. |

I'm a Conservative. That doesn't make me a warmonger. That doesn't make me a homophobe. That doesn't make me a self hating homosexual. It doesn't make me a bigot. It doesn't make me a fascist. It doesn't make me unsimpathetic to those less fortunate than myself. It just makes me a Conservative. Just because I don't agree the homosexual lifestyle, Doesn't mean I don't think they have a right to exist. As far as same sex marriage, Why would you want it? It's just more fodder for the lawyers! I've known and been friendly with many gay people in my life and I've never judged them on their lifestyle. And they never judged me for my opinion nor did they feel obligated to shove their beliefs down my throat (I know there's a joke there, But not today, O.K.?). That's what enabled us to be friends. Just because I don't believe that I owe anyone an apology for slavery, Doesn't make me a bigot. I've never owned a slave, Never wanted one. How many generations will waste away waiting for perfection in society? It'll never happen. That does not make me a bigot. It makes me a realist. The fact that I believe in a strong National Security and Border enforcement does not make me a warmonger or fascist. I believe that without National Security, None of the other arguements matter. Because if this great country fails, We probably wouldn't have any say with the next ruling party. I'm also tired of hearing about how insensitive we are toward imigrants. If you come here legally and work toward your own American Dream, God Bless You!! Why should I ascimilate to a culture that just wants to expand and erase mine. I welcome anyone and their beliefs as long as they respect mine. Does that make me a bad guy? As far as those less fortunate... If I can help, I do. But honestly, I'm not exactly swimmin' in money. I could use some help sometimes too, But I have a halfway decent job, So I'm not entitled to the programs I fund with my own tax dollars. I have to work longer hours ( that are taxed to all hell) when I need help. So if I have a problem with a system that gives handouts off of my sweat, Does that make me evil? That's the whole Conservative ideal, Don't expect anything from anyone. Work for a fair living and recieve a fair shake. The Government should be there to protect us, Not dictate what I should believe or who I should feed. I think I can be the judge of who needs my charity most. Does all this make me a bad guy? your call |
