Yeah. I have also met some very friendly and wonderful Christians over the course of my life. One of my best friends local here in town is a Jehovah Witness for Pete’s sake. She simply doesn’t push it on me, or anyone else. I asked her about that once and supposedly she isn’t being a good "witness" to them but she simply refuses to proselytize to people that don’t want to hear it. I really admire that position and the courage it requires.

The platypus? I believe it is a monotreme which is an egg laying mammal.

yes.. I mispelled it haha.
well from either standpoint, this animal just makes no sense to me.
God made it? why? A joke?
It evolved? To what purpose?

Well I believe in evolution, not a grand creator. So I don’t know if that means you don’t want to hear anything out of me. happy

The platypus is kind of strange in appearance but no more so than many other species of animal you might find throughout the world. If you don’t believe me, do an image search for "sloth". laugh

In fact, modern monotremes are the survivors of an early branching of the mammal tree; a later branching is thought to have led to the marsupial and placental groups.

The Platypus is a semi-aquatic mammal endemic to eastern Australia, including Tasmania. Yeppers it is indeed a monotremes, the only mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young. It is also very venomous

Yep Tribo I think your right, we have just witnessed a miracle. Who do you think we should attribute it too? Me, I think the playtpus was a grand choice.

I notice a conspicuous absence of born again believers on this thread.

I guess they just don't have the answers or just don't care about the questions.

I like the platypus also although I actually didn’t realize it was venomous till Deb mentioned that. I've never really studied them in detail. You figure they would require some form of defense mechanism though in order to survive and defend themselves. That duck bill does not look very threatening at all. It almost appears like it’s taped on there and too large for its face. I bet it was considered a fraudulent species until someone captured one for examination.

I believe in god and evolution too... so I waned to hear everyone's opinion on my question concerning the platypus.

And please do not go off on a tarade about how the one rules out the other.. I have my beliefs already and am not looking for something else to believe in.

Here is my theory of the platypus. bigsmile

Its mother was a beaver and gave birth to it after being impregnated by a horny duck who had an injured wing and could not fly south for the winter. This injured duck took up residence inside the beaver's damn for warmth that winter and he and the beaver mated. The beaver gave birth to three platypus young, two males and one female.

The female platypus, mated with one of its siblings and laid six eggs and they hatched, giving rise to the new species.
