I think this is funny. It's the guys who are complaining about not talking enough on the phone.

This is very common with alot of the women I meet. We text a few messages and when I call she won't answer but will text back saying she's busy with something and can't talk but only text. Is this common? it's the latest craze, the new thing, everyone not only women do it. A bit impersonal if you ask me, but then again here I am typing a response Exactly, anyone that doesn't like texting but is sitting there typing behind your monitor, what is the difference?...times change, purposes for what things are used for also change....its just another form of communication & yes sometimes a text here or there is better than a conversation, but I do both because each has its purpose.... when I was a teen I listened to rock n' roll....my parents couldn't understand my music....now kids listen to rap & I can't understand their music....so in a way some things change & some things never change....open up your mind folks... a phone is no longer just a phone.... |

I don't text as I had my cell phone turned off. I figgure if I am not at home no one needs to find me lol... But I don't like the phone period...I get nervous and tongue tied on the phone something I don't do in person or when I am typing....

I am very rarely alone. I have children and texting allows me to keep my conversations private. It also allows you time to think about what you want to say.

Is this common? I've narrowed it down to one of two things; it is less personal then a phone conversation whereas you can hear the tone changes in the voice and the depth of the conversation can be understood. Or it is because they like to 'rite lik dis'... |

I like to use the phone to say a message, share a greeting, share a laugh, but wow, some people both men and women are attached to it 24/7.
So depending on who is trying to reach me I can respond either w/call or text... I keep both short and sweet - it's not an appendage people |

Bingo!!!
we have a winner!!! she can think about what to say next |

In my experience, it's so they can still post to the forums, check the message boards, talk to the cute guy in the chat window, and still video conference with that other person, while they are texting you.
Not looking at anyone in particular! |

I don't text or IM.
I will email and talk to you on the phone. If a guy will put in the time and effort to send an email or call me it shows that he's willing to invest the time to get to know me. Texts and IM is okay for instant relationships. Just my 2 cents |

People sure do have a lot of generalizations about those who like to text.

Don't know my self I hate the texting stuff. If someone wants to talk to me then call me shshsh I would rather talk to a person.
Text messages are okay once in a while playing around but hey if ya want to carry on a conversation dial the number and talk. |

I have been known to put the phone down and walk away, come back to pick it up and found other party still busy yapping away.
Easier to text certain people |

I don't text. I have no such package on my phone....
I do phone and e-mail.... Texts are impersonal. Worse than e-mail. JMO |

guess it's an option many use or dont use at will, not only women
personal / impersonal - doesnt matter much to me; it's a form of contact. like a phone call a text can be ignored or responded to at receiver's discretion |
